CRITICAL THINKING
B. PAIR WORK. Discuss: According to the reading, are these people probably
introverts or the extroverts? Explain your answers.
1. My friend Ted is a media consultant for an advertising agency. His hobbies include
skydiving and skiing. Every time I call him, he's always busy with some social event.
Ted is an extroverted person, for the following reasons:
- first, he works in an advertising agency which requires workers who have the
ability to know how to attract people and be social.
- He regularly practices skydiving and skiing, that is, he likes to leave home or
work to relax and probably meet new people.
- Finally, he is usually busy in social events, this is characteristic of an extroverted
person.
2.- My cousin Valerie is an editor. She spends her days reading books. Valerie keeps to herself.
She's a very private person. I never know what she's thinking about.
Valerie is an introverted person for the following reasons:
- She is an editor, so her work does not require being surrounded by people, it can be
done in a place that is not work specifically.
- She spends her time reading books and keeps to herself, she doesn’t have the need
to leave the house.
- It is said that you never know she thinks, that is, she does not interact with people to
tell them something, so she doesn’t like to socialize
3.- My husband loves telling jokes, and he's always the center of attention at parties. But,
when we're at home, he can be really quiet. He's also very sensitive and interested in how I
feel. When I need to talk, he's always right there and ready to listen.
I think this person is in the middle, he is both an introvert and an extrovert. Because
when he is surrounded by several people, he loves to be the center of attention, so that
allows him socialize, but he also needs space to be alone and focus only on him, that’s
why when he is alone with his wife he can keep quiet. In addition, he is always
interested in others and is a good listener
