Inlet valve o.35 mm (+/- 0.02)

EVT Tools
Tools yang diperlukan pada Engine Valve Tune SAA12V140E-3:
1. Socket 12,13,14,17 & 19 mm drive 3/8 or ½ inch
2. Socket 30 mm drive ¾ inch
3. Extension drive 3/8 or ½ inch (long/short)
4. Joint drive 3/8 or ½ inch
5. Ratchet or handle drive 3/8 or ½ inch
6. Ratchet or handle drive ¾ inch
7. Feeler gauge ( mm)
8. Torque wrench drive 3/8 or ½ inch spec. 20‐100 lbft
9. Air gun
10. Oil Can (with new oil)
11. Plastic wrapping
12. Contact cleaner & lubricant WD‐40 (optional)

Safety notice
o Stop the machine on the level ground.
o Turn the parking brake switch on PARKING position.
o Shut off engine & set chocks to the tires.
o Disconnect the cable from the negative (–) terminal of the battery.
o Ensure the engine temperature is cold, working on hot engine may result an
injury.
o Avoid using hand gloves during adjusting engine valve clearance.
o Avoid excessive load on impeller housing turbocharger during working on
engine.
o Always keep the tools and parts in their correct places.
o Always keep the work area clean and make sure that there is no dirt, water,
or oil on the floor.
o Never smoke while working.

EVT procedures
Preparation:
1. Clean up Engine cylinder head area.
2. Remove Turbocharger guard & heat shield.

3. Remove bracket wiring Exhaust temperature sensor.
4. Remove bracket wiring fuel injector.

5. Remove bolt cylinder head cover all cylinder & secure it.

6. Clean up stamped line area on front engine vibration damper and
engine pointer.

7. Remove fan belt cover & clean bolt mounting accessories pulley.

8. Rotate the crankshaft position to TOP1.6 RH or TOP1.6 LH, match
stamped line on vibration damper to engine pointer.

9. Remove cylinder head cover RH bank No.1 or LH bank No.1 and
judge the crankshaft position.
LH No.1 cylinder RH No.1 cylinder
Note :
Intake valve has shorter rocker arm than Exhaust valve

*) Engine Valve Tune SAA12V140E-3 procedure:
Loosen locknut (6) of RH No.1 cylinder adjust screw (5). Insert a feeler
gauge of specified clearance between the crosshead (4) and rocker arm
(3) and adjust the adjustment screw to the degree that the clearance
gauge can be moved lightly.

Tighten locknut (6) to secure adjustment screw.
Locknut tightening torque: 52.9 – 64.7 Nm {5.4 – 6.6 kgm}
After tightening the locknut, check the valve clearance again.
10. Clean Cylinder head cover
11. Replace O‐ring Cylinder head cover with new part
12. Lubricate valve area with new oil & install Cylinder head cover
Mounting bolt tightening torque:
14.7 – 34.3 Nm {1.5 – 3.5 kgm}

ENGINE SAA12V140E-3 VALVES ADJUSTMENT ORDER
o Rotate the crankshaft, match TOP RH1.6 to engine pointer.
If RH No.1 cylinder on Compression top dead center, follow the below
table for adjusting order (Step 1).
o Rotate the crankshaft 50 degree forward, match TOP LH1.6 to engine
pointer (Step 2).

o Rotate the crankshaft 310 degree forward, match TOP RH1.6 to engine
pointer (Step 3).
o Rotate the crankshaft 50 degree forward, match TOP LH1.6 to engine
pointer (Step 4).

13. Recheck all bolt mounting cylinder head cover
14. Install bracket wiring fuel injector
15. Install bracket wiring exhaust temperature sensor
16. Install heat shield and turbocharger guard
17. Clean engine area for any dirt, water, oil or trash
18. Install fan belt cover
19. Secure all tools & support equipment from engine
