Some words, although similar, collocate with certain other words in very specific ways that can change

the
meaning of the sentence dramatically.
e.g. The children are doing some work for their parents. (The children are working)
e.g. The children are making a lot of work for their parents. (The parents are going to have to work)
In the first sentence, perhaps the children are cleaning the house. But in the second sentence, it is probable
that the children are messing up or dirtying the house which the parents will have to clean up later.
The words job, career, and work, all collocate with other words in very specific ways.
Job is a countable noun and is a role or position that involves responsibilities and a salary.
Work is an uncountable noun and a verb and is activity that involves physical or mental effort done in order
to achieve a result or accomplish a task.
Career is a professional pathway or trajectory in a particular field of work.
