PTO DRIVEN IMPLEMENTS
When using imploments which requite power to be wansmited
via's tolescopie deve shatt from the PTO, the following points
Should be observed
1. Ensure that the mounting does not involve angles of the
ave shaft which exceed the angular ability of the universal
Joints (usually 20°)
2. Where high shock loading isto be expected, a slip clutch,
correctly adjusted, should be incorporated in the drive.
3, Thrust loadings should be kept to a minimum by. (a)
ensuring that the telescopic drive does not bottom and {b)
Keeaping the torque loading es low se possibl. Where high
orsepowers are required to be transmitted. use the 1000
‘min standard speed instead of SAD r/min. This wil reduce
the torque to about half-and permit easier siding of the
‘shaft. Keop tho sheft wel lubrleatod and where 540 r/min
‘Rust bo usod, a rller typo or splined shaft should be used
