HDPE FITTINGS C A T A L O G U E
Introduction

Having long been a world leader in advance extrusion technology of polyethylene pipes in North America
and abroad, KWH Pipe has a world class fabrication facility location in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to serve
the needs of its customers.

The same care, precision and rigorous quality standards demanded by our Quality Assurance Department
for extruded pipes also applies to all fabricated and custom fittings produced by KWH Pipe. Each and
every fitting is produced to exact standards and is inspected prior to shipping. Production records are
kept for all fabricated and custom fittings to ensure that they are produced in accordance with quality
and field tested procedures.

KWH Pipe was the first North American manufacturer of polyethylene pipe and fittings to get their Quality
Management System registered to the ISO 9000 series standard. Thirty years of experience in
demanding North American markets have developed our skills, knowledge and experience to a level
unsurpassed by our competitors. With the largest available diameter range of Factory Mutual approved
fittings and the ability to manufacture fittings in accordance with AWWA C906 already in place on many
of our products, not to mention extensive mining, industrial and municipal experience in nearly all types
of installations, we are well equipped to serve the needs of almost any application.

Our highly skilled engineering and technical staff are available to lend their assistance and expertise to
complicated design and/or installation problems as they arise.

Sclairpipe Fitting Design

Fabricated fittings for use in pressure service are manufactured in the same diameters as Sclairpipe but
with heavier walls than are used in the piping system. This results in a fitting with a pressure rating
which is greater than or equal to the pipe itself. Unless specifically stated otherwise, the additional wall
thickness is on the ID. The butt weld ends of the fittings are counter bored to meet the wall thickness of
the mating pipe (see figure 1). KWH Pipe recommends that fittings be ordered by EDR (Equivalent
Dimensional Ratio). The pressure rating of the EDR fittings is the same as that associated with the DR of
the matching pipe. The table below details the pipe DR used to fabricate the appropriate EDR fitting.

All fabricated fittings can be supplied with either flanged ends and/or plain ends for field butt fusion to
the piping system.

Custom Fabrication

Numerous years of experience with polyethylene pipe in literally all types of installations has developed
the skill level and experience of our technicians to a level unsurpassed in the industry. The vision of our
engineering and technical staff in solving and finding the solutions to complex design and installation
problems presented by our customers is realized through the "artistry" and "craft" of our fittings
fabricators. Our 3D modeling and engineering simulation software allows us to predict how product
designs will behave in real-world environments. The possibilities and potential configurations are
endless.

Molded Fittings

KWH Pipe offers a full line of molded fittings in all common configurations at very competitive price
levels. The resins used to produce these components meet the same standards and specifications as is
used to produce Sclairpipe and conventional fabricated fittings. Depending on the requirement and
design relative to each situation, the user has the option to select these items for substantial cost
reductions where appropriate.

Page 28
Flanges

KWH Pipe Stocks and distributes a full line of flanges in several

materials, which are produced in accordance with strict quality
standards. The standard coating for flanges is red oxide
primer, but also available is epoxy coated and hot dip
galvanized. The material used to produce these components,
meets the requirements as detailed in Table 1: Flange
Specifications

Using Flanged Connections

The tables below detail the bolt length "L"

requirements for a SCLAIRPIPE to SCLAIRPIPE
connection. The below information is based on the
use of heavy hex, SAE J429 bolts and nuts. An
additional allowance of 3 in. of threaded length should
be made to bolt lengths for underwater connections
for ease of assembly.

Joining Sclairpipe to other materials

Because of the many variations of flange styles and dimensions, it would be beyond the scope of this brochure to
detail all connections. The line drawing and table below show dimension "A" - the combined thickness of a Sclairpipe
stub end and a standard flange. The designer should supply dimension "B" based on the actual flange thickness being
used on the conneting pipe, plus gasket and washer thickness. Then by allowing for the nut and clear thread the bolt
length "L" can be determined. The designer should always ensure that the available thread length is greater than
dimension 'C'.

As a laboratory that offers approval services in the interest of property conservation, the Factory Mutual
Research Corporation has a reputation for excellence and integrity worldwide. The Factory Mutual
Research Corporation is an internationally recognized test laboratory for components of fire protection
systems. FM Approval is only issued after a product or service has been proven to meet specific
requirements of performance, safety and quality. Manufacturing facilities are also routinely re-inspected
to ensure continuing compliance with Factory Mutual Standards.

The equipment, materials and services listed in the following pages are FM Approved. In every case,
these products and services have been subjected to examinations and inspections and have been found
to satisfy the criteria for Approval. Generally unauthorized alterations or modifications may impact the
safety and performance of the product and will void the approval. Therefore any dimensional change for
any style and type of fitting has to be submitted to FM for approval.

All KWH FM Approved pipe and fittings bear the mark:

All fabricated fittings can be supplied with either flanged or plain ends to be connected to the piping
system. FM Approved pipe and fittings may be directly connected together by butt fusion or by
mechanical FM Approved connections. FM Approved pipe and fittings may also be joined to other FM
Approved steel flanged pipe and fittings.
