“Environmental Club of BUP”
Project Status as of November 2021:
✓ Environmental Club of BUP (EnCBUP) hosted its flagship event of the year, "BUP
Environmental Fest-2022" for the third time on 25 May, 2022. The theme of this year's festival
was "Green Transition, Sustainable Solution" which expressed the club's concern about
achieving a sustainable and fair green transition that will result in positive social, economic,
and environmental outcomes. Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives
Minister of Bangladesh, Md Tazul Islam MP attended the programme as Chief Guest.
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Vice-Chancellor Major General Md Mahbub-
ul Alam was present as the Special Guest and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUP, Professor Dr
Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain was also present as a Guest.
✓ After that EnCBUP arranged its recruitment program for the 2022, "Greencruitment 3.0" to
connect more people into the network and make them a part of accomplishing environmental
sustainability and making climate conscious.
✓ After that, the Environmental Club of BUP launched its "Environmental Awareness
Campaign" program to educate people (faculty & staffs) especially the youths in the campus
about climate change and several other issues as an effective way to create a better and
sustainable future.
✓ Recently, a collaboration has been done between Environmental Club of BUP (EnCBUP) &
PRAN-RFL at "Bins of Change Campaign." Under this campaign Waste Segregation approach
will be effectively practiced at BUP Campus. BUP is already well-known as one of the cleanest
campuses of Bangladesh. Environmental Club of BUP brings this initiative to promote and
raise awareness regarding the benefits of segregated waste dumping practices. This will allow
everyone to show their conscience and sensible behavior to uphold the practice of proper waste
management.
✓ Throughout the time after establishment, EnCBUP has always been very active in social
media. EnCBUP is spreading awareness and making people aware of the effect of climate
change and the ways of mitigation.
Project Description:
Environmental Club of BUP (EnCBUP) is the very first club of Bangladesh University of
Professionals (BUP) which has been initiated with a view to spreading environmental awareness
and accomplishing environmental sustainability. It is the arena of all the nature lovers &
environmental enthusiasts of BUP who seek for a cleaner, greener & better environment. The
planet Earth is a sanctuary for life. Our beautiful abode is progressively losing its greenery and
glory because of our anthropogenic activities. Environmental pollution and climate change is
making our earth inhabitable. To revive our earth and combat the climate crisis, multi-sectoral and
multi-stakeholder involvement is required. That is why the Environmental Club of BUP has been
established with the mission of to protect and improve the environment of our community as well
as of our country by promoting awareness of the current state of the environment. The motto of
this club is “Caring for Nature, Saving the Future” which unfurls the core vision of this club.
Who are you serving?
Environmental Club of BUP is the only club of the institution that works for spreading
environmental awareness and accomplishing environmental sustainability. EnCBUP serves the
university as well as the country by making people educated regarding environmental pollution,
climate change and other relative domains.
Primary Target Audience:
The students (of different backgrounds) who will be serving this country in future, are the primary
target audience of EnCBUP. EnCBUP offers recruitment programs and makes them engaged in
the club activities (as club members). Again, the faculties and staff who are involved with this
institution by any way, are the primary target audiences of EnCBUP.
Specific Target Audience:
Youths are the main playmaker of a country’s positive growth. EnCBUP also focuses sincerely on
the youth pupil of BUP so that they may become aware of the issues of climate change,
environmental deterioration, carbon footprint etc.
What is the primary SDG(s) that you are advancing?
SDG 13-Climate Action is the primary SDG that the Environmental Club of BUP is advancing.
Climate change, if not conquered, will make this planet inhabitable for us and we will be extinct
eventually. That is why this SDG is the prime concern of EnCBUP.
Are you advancing any other SDGs?
Yes, we are also advancing SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG
7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and SDG 16 (Peace and Justice Strong Institutions.
