Whatever the weather, every sea dog needs a traditional fisherman’s Aran sweater to protect him from the elements.
With its rope-like cables, this rugged hand knit will keep a dog snug whether out on the high seas or back on land.

Rep the last 2 rows 3(5) times more. 58 sts.
Leave these sts on a holder.

FRONT
Work as given for Back until Front measures 19cm/7½in
from cast-on edge, ending with a wrong side row.
Shape for legholes
Keeping the patt correct, work as follows:
Cast off 14(15) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 38(40) sts.
Work a further 20(22) rows.
Cast on 14(15) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 66(70) sts.
Work straight in patt until 16 rows fewer have been
worked than on Back to lower back shaping, so ending
with a wrong side row.
Shape lower front
Next row (right side) Patt 18, turn and work on these sts
only for first side of shaping, leave rem 48(52) sts on a
spare needle.
Dec one st at inside edge on next 15 rows. 3 sts.
Cast off.
With right side facing, return to sts on spare needle, slip
centre 30(34) sts on a holder, rejoin yarn, patt to end. 18 sts.
Dec one st at inside edge on next 15 rows. 3 sts.
Cast off.
