1 INTRODUCTION
The objective of this report is to perform Structure analysis for the Platform supporting structure
and verify the suitability of structural sections for the design loads.

2 METHODOLOGY
Structural analysis is done in Staad pro software. The major structure columns and beams are
modeled and then the loads are applied on the structural members for analysis.

Connection Design and Anchor bolt sizing calculations are also done to ensure the suitability of
the connections.

3 CODES & STANDARDS

Following British Standard design codes are used for analysis & design of structural platform.

BS 5950 Structural use of steelwork in Building

4 DESIGN PHILOSOPHY AND SUMMARY

This report presents the analysis and design of the structural support. The Structure is designed
to meet strength requirements when subjected to gravity loads and live loads.

Structure analysis is performed in the software for the loads mentioned in section 5. The
stresses and deflection are checked with the allowable limits of the structural steel (S 235)
and is found to be safe for the design loads. For detailed result refer software output pages,
section 6.

5 LOAD CONSIDERED
Following loads are considered for analysis & design of structure.

5.1 Dead Load

➢ Self-weight of structure = 1.0
➢ Grating and other Mis. Loads = 1 kN/m2

5.2 Live Load

➢ Live load of 3kN/m2 is considered over the platform grating area.

5.3 Load Verification:

Calculated Value:
Load in the Y -direction is due to vertical load (Dead+ Live) which is around (0.7*3.3m2 * 4 kNm2)
9.24kN + Self weight (1.15 kN) = 10.4 kN
STEEL TAKE-OFF
--------------

PROFILE LENGTH(METE) WEIGHT(KN )

----------------
TOTAL = 1.118

Reaction load from software:

Summation of Y loads = 4.832+3.315+2.211 = 10.36 kN
Therefore, the loads considered in the software is inline with the calculated loads.

10 CONCLUSION
The maximum stress in the structure is observed in the column support towards the base of the
structure, and the stress ratio is 0.37 (ratio of actual stress and allowable stress)

The stresses at other locations are well within the allowable stress value.

The connections and Anchor bolts are checked for higher lateral loads. As per section 8, the stresses in
the connections plate and bolt area are within the allowable capacity.

The combined stress ratio is less than one in the Anchor bolt calculation.

Based on the above results, the structure is suitable for use for the design loads.

The reaction loads at the support point are provided in the section 7.0.
