1. PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
The South Dhahran Home Ownership (SDHO) Development is a Saudi ARAMCO housing
project along with supporting infrastructure and utilities with the total land parcel comprising
10.2km2. The project will supply new schools in addition to support services. All utilities and
infrastructure for the project will be developed as specified. The site is located within the City
of Dhahran in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The site is approximately 5 kilometers
southeast of Dhahran city center next to Abu Hadrian Highway, north of Half Moon Bay and
east of Old Abqaiq Road.
The Project Site has been divided into two Increments (I & II).
The scope of work for this contract is located in Increment II and a brief synopsis of the scope,
of Increment II, is listed below:
Fire station build-up area is 3, 700 meter.

This method statement includes all the repair works of screed, which are essential not only to
utilize them for their intended service-life but also to assure the safety and serviceability of
the associated components.
3. WORK SCOPE
To perform the safe and quality procedure for the repair of cracks, repair of honey combs,
repair of spalls, repair of voids & pinholes in concrete screed.
4. PURPOSE
This method statement defines the responsibilities and describes the activities and procedures to
be implemented for screed repair works, which to be carried out in compliance with the
standards, IFC drawings and project specifications.

7. RESPONSIBILITIES
7.1 Construction Manager.
The Construction Manager shall be responsible for overall implementation of the method
of statement to ensure that construction work is carried out as per the project specification,
approved method statement and approved drawings. The construction manager is responsible
to provide all required resources to accomplish the job.

7.2 Quality Control Manager.
The responsibility of Quality Control Manger is to ensure that the required quality plan is
being followed and the work is in compliance with the Quality Assurance Specification,
Approved Procedures, IFC/Shop Drawings and all relevant Approved Quality Assurance
Documents. Also confront for all standard Quality procedures and formalities to be done
properly and on time.
7.3 Safety Manager.
The Safety Manager shall be responsible for the overall implementation of Safety Plan
related to site activities. Safety Manager shall review prior to the start of work, Safety Action
Plan and safe Work plan that must be implemented and observed during execution of work.
He shall review the application for work permits and ensure that correct PPE in use during the
installation of precast concrete panels.
7.4 Site engineer.
The Site Engineer responsibilities are to execute and monitor the work in compliance with
the specification, approved material, approved drawings and all relevant documents and the
work schedule. Monitor the team of applicators and supervisors to meet the deadlines with
highest standards of execution. Follow the schedule and sequence of other jobs going on
parallel with precast concrete panel installation, without any disturbance and maintaining the
progress of works without being affected by others.
7.5 Quality control inspector.
The Quality control inspector shall be responsible to inspect and ensure that the
construction work is carried out as per contract specification and approved IFC drawing. He
will inform the site engineer for any rectification or improvement before the final inspection.
He will raise the WIR, after the required work is completed, to carry out the inspection as per
the approved process control sheets.
7.6 Safety inspector.
The safety inspector shall ensure that the work is performed under the safety measures
of the approved Sino hydro HSE plan and manufacturer’s recommended safety precautions.
Ensure that all staff is wearing relevant personal protective equipment’s, such as, safety
helmets, gloves, goggles, belts, safety shoes and reflective yellow vest, as per safety plan. The
safety inspector shall ensure that good and proper waste management plan

10. PROCEDURES
10.1 CASE. 01. To Repair the Cracks in Screed.
Cemtec-R44 (Repair of Blow Holes, Pinholes & Bubbles and Shrinkage and Thermal
Cracks)
10.1.1 Surface Preparation
10.1.1.1 The cracks must be widened to a V shaped profile.
10.1.1.2 The cracks must be routed out by using Grinding Disc, to a width of 5mm and 5mm
to 10mm depth.
10.1.1.3 The final step in cleaning must be complete removal of all residues with vacuum
cleaning, pressure washing or air blasting.
10.1.2 Procedure for Application
10.1.2.1 Mix Part A (resin) to Part B (hardener) for 3minutes using slow speed drill mixer
and mixing paddle until a homogeneous consistency paste is formed. For ease of
mixing, add the part B to part A (not the reverse).
10.1.2.2 Trowel the mixed material by using putty knife / spatula.
10.1.2.3 The surface may be smoothened using paint brush dipped in CEMTEC SOLVENT
or XYLENE.
10.1.2.4 Pot life at 40 deg. C is 45 minutes.

10.1.3 Curing
Curing is not required
10.1.4 Cleaning
All tools and equipment must be cleaned with XYLENE.
10.1.5 Storage
To store in a shaded area.
10.2 CASE.02: When Crack Suppression membrane is projecting/Screed thickness is
very less
CEMMORT 5000 ( Screed/Concrete Patch repair, Plaster & Mortar Bed)
CEMMORT 5000 that can be applied for a thickness of 3 to 50 mm along with CEMMIX
which complies also to ANSI 118.1 & can be used without inserting crack suppression
membrane as recommended by vendor.
If screed thickness is less than 30mm & crack suppression is out, remove that part of
screed and use mortal bed directly below the tile.
When mixed, the system of CEMMORT 5000 & CEMMIX can offer a high durable heavy
duty thick bedding system for ceramic tiles with an outstanding adhesion.
10.2.1 Direction for Use.
10.2.1.1 Mark out the defective area, remove loose sand cement materials and all
contamination fromscreed such as dust, oil & grease if any up to the perimeter of
the repair.
10.2.1.2 Chip with a chipped hammer the screed cracked surface/areas in order to create a
rough surface.
10.2.1.3 Before laying mortar, a slurry of bond coat has to be broomed onto the prepared and
the pre-dampened concrete.
10.2.1.4 The CEMMORT 5000 has to be applied before the bond coat has dried.
10.2.1.5 Small quanties od CEMMORT 5000 may be mixed with drill and jiffy mixer. Use a
paddle type mortar mixer for large jobs.
10.2.1.6 Add the Cemmix for the batch size and then add the dry product.
10.2.1.7 Mix minimum of 3 minutes.
10.2.1.8 The mixed product should be quickly transported to the bedding or repair area and
placed quickly.

10.2.1.9 For patching, spread with trowel or square tipped shovel to a thickness that
matches surround concrete.
10.2.1.10 Finish by hand trowelling
10.2.2 Precautions/Limitation.
10.2.2.1 Store in dry place above freezing
10.2.2.2 Keep powder off from skin and out of eyes.
10.2.2.3 It is not suitable for abusive traffic.
10.2.2.4 No heavy traffic untill the product has cured.
11. SAFETY:
11.1 Follow Material Safety Data Sheet [MSDS] instruction of approved manufacturer.
11.2 All personals involved with the project shall be inducted on the safety, health and
environmental issues associated with the work.
11.3 Only trained personnel with relative experience shall be allowed to handle Equipment.
11.4 Appropriate safety signboard, barriers and lighting shall be and other safe guards shall
be provided as required by nature of and location of the works. All operations shall be
carried out in accordance with safety requirements.
11.5 All field personnel will use PPE safety requirements like safety shoes, helmets, cover
all, goggles, chemical masks, etc. as required.
11.6 All the safe practices shall be adopted during work activities..
11.7 Shall maintain good housekeeping around work area.
11.8 Shall provide the facility to meet unusual emergency.
11.9 Access to the working area should be displayed by sign board.
11.10 MSDS must be available on site before the start of activity.
11.11 Adequate washing facility must be provided before the start of activity.
11.12 Unnecessary personal must be removed from the vicinity of work area .
