Aviation turbine fuel (kerosene)

Jet A 1, F-34, F-35, F-63
Density at 15 °C: 0.775 to 0.845 g/ml
Boiling range: 130 to 300 °C
Freezing point: -47 °C
Cetane index: not defined
In principle, MAN engines with oil-lubricated
inline injection pumps can be operated with
aviation turbine fuel.
The above mentioned fuels are not allowed
for use with mechanically and electrically
controlled distributor-type injection pumps
(VE..., VP 44 ...) and the Common Rail injec-
tion system.
The lower density and viscosity of the product
of distillation and the lack of lubricity compared
to diesel fuel mean that reduced engine power,
increased leakage at the injection pump and
shorter service life of the injection system are
all to be expected.
Further disadvantages include poorer engine
starting characteristics as well as worse emis-
sion levels.

The fuel filters then become blocked with rust
particles and biomass. The result is a reduction
in engine performance, ultimately ending in the
vehicle becoming immobilised. The fuel filters
then have to be replaced at relatively short in-
tervals.

Preventive measures

To prevent the formation of microorganisms in

the fuel system:
– Keep storage tanks clean
– Only park the vehicle for extended periods
when the fuel tank is full

If the fuel system or storage tanks have already

been affected by micro-organisms, MAN Truck

MAN Genuine Corrosion

Protection and Antifreeze

Developed specially for the operation of MAN high-performance diesel engines, MAN Genuine
Corrosion Protection and Antifreeze offers protection against corrosion and cavitation at the
same time as providing antifreeze protection to ‐37 °C.
Pipe-constricting deposits or gas bubbles can result in extreme pressure and temperature peaks
that can permanently damage the system. MAN Genuine Corrosion Protection and Antifreeze is
optimally tuned to the cooling systems of MAN engines and to their seal materials and coatings,
and therefore provides maximum protection, optimum function and considerable cost advan-
tages due to longer engine service life.
MAN Genuine Corrosion Protection and Antifreeze meets the MAN 324 SI‐OAT and VW TL
774‐G specifications and is thus suitable for all MAN vehicles.
Exception for TGE: Approval according to VW TL 774-G (top up), not suitable for VW TL 774-J
(complete change).
Where available, use MAN Genuine Anti-corrosion Agent and Antifreeze.

Note
Information on the assignment of ap-
proved engine oil, emission standard,
exhaust system and sulphur content in
the diesel fuel can be found in the chap-

Fill quantities
Refrigerants and refrigerator oils

If the refrigerant compressor is replaced, the

air-conditioning system must be completely
emptied. Next, no refrigerator oil needs to be
replenished, since the refrigerant compressor
is already filled with the quantity of oil for the
entire air-conditioning system.
Exception: For TGX with auxiliary air-condition-
ing system and evaporator, 100 cm3 of refriger-
ator oil must be added.
