NATIONAL SPORTS DAY CELEBRATION

The theme for Nation Sports Day 2023 celebration is “Sports are an enabler in an inclusive
and fit society”.

National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th August each year. This is the birth anniversary of
Hockey wizard Major Dhayan Chand who brought glory to the nation on international stage.

The day also serves as a reminder to all of us to recall the contributions, determination and
extraordinary achievements of the athletes and their influence in shaping societies. This day
is observed to encourage school and college students to participate in games. National
Sports Day is also an occasion to raise awareness about the importance of sports and
physical activity in our daily lives. Sports can help us stay fit and healthy, reduce stress and
build character. They also teach us teamwork, discipline and perseverance.

Like every year, National Sports Day was celebrated in Bal Bharati Public School, Solan. An
Inter House Cricket Tournament was organized for the students of class VI to X in the school
premises. The matches were played between the four Houses – Shivaji, Tagore, Ashoka and
Raman. The enthusiastic crowd experienced thrilling performances with the team exhibiting
their best in the limited six over matches.

Shivaji House won the championship with Tagore House at second place and Ashoka House
at third place. All players participated with sportsmanship. Students from all houses
witnessed the matches and cheered their teams.

The winners were as follows:-


1st Position - Shivaji House
Best Player - Saurabh Panwar
Best Bowler - Daksh Sood
Best Fielder - Swastik Rawat

The Tournament demonstrated excellent team spirit and good sportsmanship and proved to
be a success. The winners were cheered and the efforts of the runner up were equally
applauded and appreciated.
