Assignment 3 requires you to perform an oral presentation of your write-up for Assignment
1(ONE). The method of the oral presentation will be one of the stated below:

Powerpoint slideshow recording

The oral presentation will be in a powerpoint slide show recording format (based on
Assignment 1(ONE)) sent to your e-Tutor. Discuss with your e-Tutor to determine the date
for the presentation recording to be submit.

The presentation will be allotted 15- 20 minutes total. Do not exceed 20 minutes or speak
less than 10 minutes.

Save your video recording in the mp4 format into your google drive. Get the share video link
from google drive and send it to your etutor via email. Please ensure the link set up is
correct. Choose to share with ‘Anyone with the link’ so that the video link can be accessed
smoothly by your etutor.

The language of choice MUST be the same as you used in your write-up for Assignment
1(ONE). (If you wrote in English, then your presentation should be in English; likewise if you
used Malay, your presentation has to be in Malay).

The evaluation of this presentation is using the Rubric Assessment Tool as in Appendix 1.

Guidelines for Preparation of Power Point Slides and Presentation

1. Text
 Font size - make all text as large as possible; no less than 28. Exceptions,
(however, try to use font no less than 20 if possible) for references or subtitles on
graphs or pictures.
 Font style - Arial or Times New Roman, using same font style throughout.
 Colors - depends upon background choices. (Refer below).
 Number of words - a good rule of thumb is less than 40 words per slide. This
would allow the average reader to take in the text in around 12 seconds and then
concentrate their attention back to the speaker. A text-heavy slide is distracting
and might take the attention of your audience away from what you are saying.

2. Backgrounds
 Use a simple, pleasing background. Examples: dark blue grading to light blue;
yellow print.
 Simple repeated graphic on left side; white background and black print (as
necessary).
 Avoid a background with many lines, many colors, or many shades of one color.
 DO NOT USE ANIMATED BACKGROUNDS; they are distracting to audience

3. Practice
 You must practice (aloud) several times so that you will be confident and stay
within the time limit.
 You may want to write your speech out (entirely) beforehand to make sure that
you can make your points clearly and that you make smooth transitions.
 Do not read your text or memorize it.
 Know as much about your subject area as possible.
 Once you are confident with your presentation, you can start with the recording.
 You can record as many as you want but only one recording is required to be sent
to the etutor.

4. Presentation
 Speak slowly. Do not assume that audience members will figure anything out by
themselves.
 Make eye contact with the audience and interact with your slides. (Look at the
camera)
 Point to parts you want the audience to consider using a laser pointer.
 Deliver your presentation with an outline based on your written text, so that you
will not read (and bore the audience), but can find your place if you get lost.
