4. Section C has 3 Short Answer (SA)-type questions of 3 mark each.
5. Section D has 2 Long Answer (LA)-type questions of 5 mark each.
6. Section E has 2 sources based /case based/passage based/integrated units of assessment (4 marks each) with
sub parts.

12. Let A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 6}. Let R be the relation on A defined by{(a, b): a , b  A, b is exactly divisible by a}.

15. A solution of 8% boric acid is to be diluted by adding a 2% boric acid solution to it. The resulting mixture
is to be more than 4% but less than 6% boric acid. If we have 640 litres of the 8% solution, how many litres of
the 2% solution will have to be added?

17. In a school at Chandigarh, students of class XI were discussing about the relations and functions. Three
Students Ankita, Babita and Kavita form three sets A = {1,2, 3, 4, 5}, B = {2, 4, 6} and K = {5, 7}.

Based on the above information answer the following:

(i) Find n(A× B) and n(K × B)


(ii) A correspondence of elements from A to B given as
{(1, 2), (2, 2), (3, 4), (3, 6), (4, 4), (5, 6)}.
Is it a function? Justify your answer.
(iii) If the function f: B→K such that (b, k) ∈ f and b < k,
defined by f = {(1, 5), (x, 5), (5, y), (2, 7), (4, 7)},
then find x and y.

18. A man wants to cut three lengths from a


single piece of board of length 91cm. The second
length is to be 3cm longer than the shortest and
the third length is to be twice as long as the shortest.

Based on the above information answer the following:


(i) If x is the length of the shortest board, then what
are the lengths of the second and third piece?
(ii) What are the inequations involved in the given
statement?
(iii)What are the possible lengths of the shortest
board if the third piece is to be at least 5cm longer than the second?
