How To Start Home Based Test :-

Before starting the Exam Login Process, please disable Pop-up blocker on Google Chrome &
download Google Chrome Extension by using the below link or use updated version of Mozilla
Firefox.

After installation of above extension, login on exam registration portal (https://pttest.icai.org/) ----------->click
on start test----------->system configuration check page will appear----------> candidate id card and photo
capture--------------> exam instructions--> give permission of screen sharing ----> exam started.

1. Candidates are required to produce valid Original photo ID card issued by ICAI or Govt to the exam proctor. In the
absence of Photo Identity Card, candidates will be denied taking the test.
2. Candidates must ensure that at their home/test location following system requirements are met :
Laptop or Desktop (Window 7 or above, at least 4GB RAM, Updated version of Mozilla Firefox Browser or
Google chrome).
Compatible webcam & Mic.
Electricity Backup of at least 4 Hours (Generator, Inverter, UPS).
Active Full-Time/Broadband Internet connection of at least 1 Mbps. Candidates are advised not to use Mobile
Hotspot as their Internet source.
Keyboard and mouse.
Before starting the Exam Login Process, disable Pop-up blocker on Google Chrome & download Google

3. Candidates should report online by 02:15 pm. (IST), Exam will start at 03:00 pm (IST) after which the login to
test will NOT be allowed. Late joining of candidates will not be permitted. Any disconnection of Internet/exam will
not be permitted till the conclusion of the test. Disconnection from the assigned proctor may be treated as unfair
means.
4. The test has to be completed by 05:00 pm (IST). In case of disconnections, please take help of proctors. In case of
frequent disconnections due to Internet or any hardware malfunctioning, the duration of the test will not exceed
beyond 2:30 hours and the responses will be auto submitted on as is basis and evaluated thereon. Note that ONLY
Questions for which answers are saved or marked for review after answering will be considered for evaluation.
5. Candidates should carefully read and follow the instructions that appear on the computer screen at the start of the
examination.
6. The examination will be in English language only. It will be an online MCQ-based test.
7. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
8. Upon establishing connection with the proctor, candidate’s activities will be monitored by proctors and activity log
will be maintained.
9. Log in using the user ID and password provided to you and check that your name appears in the top left-hand
corner when you start.
10. You will not be able to download or print or open any other application in your computer or access any website
during the test.
11. You should ensure as far as possible that you will not need a break during the exam.
12. Candidates can not leave their seat for any reason whatsoever until they submit the examination.
13. In case computer/laptop on which candidate is giving the exam crashes or there is hindrance due to Internet then
again same process has to be followed for relogging in the test environment.

14. Any candidate found either copying or receiving or giving assistance will be disqualified. Any malpractice in the
examination shall attract action that is deemed as fit by the proctor.

15. Use of calculator and/or such devices is not allowed. On-screen calculator will be provided during the examination.

16. Candidates can carry copy/ Sheet and pen/ pencil for solving practical questions. Apart from these nothing is
allowed.
17. No eatables will be allowed during the examination However, water bottle can be taken.
18. Candidates will have to follow the instructions of the proctor at all stages of the Test.
19. Smoking, chewing of tobacco, betel, intoxicant, etc. are strictly prohibited during the examination.
20. The use of mobile phone is permitted only for talking to the assigned proctor and not any body else. Any such
activity recorded will be treated as having resorted to unfair means. You must take proctor's permission before
calling someone for technical help.
21. Do not use the earphone/headphones during the test.
22. Candidates are required to maintain complete discipline in the room where he/she is giving the exam and any
misdemeanor on their part (i.e. talking to, receiving/giving any help, copying from any text, defying instruction of
the proctor etc.) will tantamount to adoption of unfair means in the test. In such a situation, the candidate
concerned will be expelled from the examination system and will be subject to such other action, as deemed fit, as
per the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. The candidate, who had been expelled, must submit his
explanation in writing through the proctor.
23. The exam proctor has absolute power to expel a candidate from the examination system, if in his opinion, the
candidate has misbehaved or has obstructed him or any other official on examination duty in carrying out his
duties.
24. Candidate must undertake that :
a I am attempting this exam where only I am present and there is no one in the room.
b I am not keeping any books / reference material / calculator etc and nothing is written on the walls / desk.
c I am prepared to sit for the full duration and will not leave the seat even for washroom.
d I understand that any means to indulge in activity other than attempting exam will lead to disqualification
and the proctor's decision will be final.
e The Institute has the right to disqualify me and stop the test in case my image during the exam does not
match with the image on the photo ID submitted at the time of applying for the exam.
f I will maintain the decorum and sanctity of the exam.
g I shall abide by the instructions of the proctor and any activity of mine which can lead to the disruption of
the exam will be treated as resorting to unfair means.

25. The following are not permitted:-


a Attempting to take the examination for someone else, i.e. Impersonation.
b Giving or receiving assistance of any kind during the examination, and communication in any form with
other candidates or with outsiders, etc.
c Leaving the exam system without the permission from the proctor.
d Using prohibited aids, items not allowed, such as – mobile phones, calculator, pen drive, Tabs, notes,
electronic diaries, watch alarms, listening devices and recording or photographic devices.
e Attempting to copy examination questions and /or examination responses (in any format) from the
examination system.
f Any misconduct or misbehaviour or creating disturbance in the exam.

26. Candidates are required to strictly follow all the instructions/rules including those given by the examination
proctor. Violation of any of the rules/instructions will tantamount to adoption of unfair means. In such a situation,
the candidate concerned will be expelled from the examination hall and will be subject to such other action, as
deemed fit, as per the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.
