Summer Math Assignment

This summer, the Middle School at Florida Christian School has designed a math
enrichment program for our Middle School students through Khan Academy at no
cost to you. This program will highlight opportunities for students to engage in a
personalized reinforcement of the skills they will need for this upcoming school
year. Research shows that spiraling skills over time and across lessons is a key
component to minimizing student learning loss and improving knowledge
retention. The objective is for students to continue working on math throughout
the summer.
 To ensure this, we are requiring students to complete at least 7 hours of
total learning in the “Get ready for (your grade)” course before the first day
of school.
 The assignment is due on the first day of school to the math teacher and
represents a grade for the first week of school. Late work will not be
accepted past August 15, 2023.
 Each student is to print out their progress screen from Khan Academy. Edit
the date to a custom range: from May 29, 2023 to August 13, 2023
 On the printed sheet, each student will need to write their first name, last
name, and grade level.

Tips for Success
 As with any online platform, parental supervision is recommended.
 Have a paper and pencil with you when completing Khan Academy. For some
math problems it is very helpful to work out the problems.
 Write down your username and password in a secure spot.
 Earn more points by taking the section quizzes.
 When completing a section your goal is to fill the bar to the top. If you do not
get all the questions correct on a lesson, you can always redo the lesson to get
your top points.
 When stuck on a problem you can watch a tutorial video or click on hint.
 If you have internet issues, click refresh.
