Topic: Climate Change
M: Hi, Joseph , what’s up? What’s the topic of today?
J: Hello, Mathias. Today’s topic is climate change, which is a big problem for our
environment.
M: Wow, but why do you want to talk about that?
J: Well, some days ago I was reflecting about our world and how it has been changed
for years by climate change.
M: Yeah , actually I have been thinking about it since I saw a video that says that climate
change would be a huge problem if we don't use strategies to take care of our planet.
J: I heard that climate change is caused by methane. For that reason, the habitat of
many animals is being affected and changed. That's very dangerous for animals and
humans, isn't it?
M: Exactly, you know that Asthma, pneumonia, and some other diseases are caused by
that, don’t you? Climate change, which is the main cause of the change in our
environment, has impacted us a lot.
J: Also Methane, which is one of the most toxic gasses in our world, is produced by
some garbage that is thrown to the sea. But do you know what are the agents that
cause climate change?
M: Well, I think that companies that violate the laws created by the government. For
instance, big companies usually generate a lot of pollution for our world.
J: And They make a bunch of money without taking care of the pollution that is made by
them, that's not fair, is it?
M: Yeah, bro, I mean we can't do anything against it but what we can do is to make a
change in our houses, in our community, we could make a caring-environment
community.
J: What do you mean by making a caring-environment community?
M: Maybe, we can create sustainable projects, like the Endangered Species Act, which
is located in the USA, that protect the habitat of animals and the recovery of them, and
we can achieve that with the help of authorities and the funds of the government.
J: That's a good argument for running a green project, but I think we have to create
innovative ideas, such as renewable energy solutions. We can use more solar panels in
each house instead of the classic energy.
M: That’s a great idea, but to put it another way, you want to contribute to the climate
change adaptation strategies and one of them is to make home energy healthier for the
planet through the use of solar panels.
J: Yes, and that way people won't have to pay a lot for energy in their homes. In
addition, to take care of the pollution, the authorities could see on their cameras
around the city the red-handed people that are throwing trash on the streets or doing
stuff that could put in danger our environment, they could give them a ticket to
conscientize how a single piece of paper on the street can do damage to the planet.
That would help, wouldn't it?
M: Yeah, the government must put in order in the streets, and to do so, it needs the help
of the police. In that way, we are not only helping to keep our streets clean but also
helping our footprint on the environment to be considerably reduced.
J: So, in general terms, we must start doing a change in our community, with our
neighbors and friends. Making a change is easier now than before because we have
cellphones, laptops, PCs in our houses, we could share this idea of a green society to
them through social media.
M: That’s true, in my case, I got a whatsapp group of my neighbors and I will convince
them to make a change in their own lifes. With their effort we will be a better
community and country.
J: Yes, as the famous quote said, “Kill pollution or it will kill you”.
M: That’s a great and true quote because we have got only one earth.
J: It has a powerful meaning.
M: So what are we waiting for?
J: Let's propose this idea to our authorities.
