o Location
Mendez Crossing Elementary School is located in Barangay Mendez Crossing East, Tagaytay
City. The school serves the community with 2 barangays namely Mendez Crossing
East and Mendez Crossing West but is also a choice school of some learners residing
in the nearby barangays due to its proximity to the school. Means of
transportation is accessible using all types, several learners walk in going to
school since they live in the vicinity of the area.
Mendez Crossing Elementary School has a total land area of 1,272 square meter.
o Demographics
Mendez Crossing Elementary School population averages to 900 learners in the past
years up to the present that is handled by 29 nationally funded teachers.

The school has 1 Guidance Counselor, 1 Clinic Teacher and 2 DRRM focal person. DRRM
focal persons and school Clinic teacher have been capacitated on various safety and
health trainings.

Geographically, the school is situated 2 kilometres away from the city proper
and about 5 kilometres away from the District Office.
The climate of Tagaytay City has two (2) pronounced seasons: dry from November to April

and wet during the rest of the year. Tagaytay City is also known as little Baguio because
of its cold weather specially when Christmas season is coming.

I. OBJECTIVES
This Contingency Plan was developed in response to DepEd Order No.37, s. 2022 on the
Guidelines on the Cancellation or Suspension of Classes and Work in Schools in the Event
of Natural Disasters, Power Outages/Power Interruptions, and Other Calamities.
The main objectives of this plan are the following:
1. Ensure learning continuity
2. Establish public service continuity
3. Ensure health and safety among learners, teachers and personnel
Specific objectives:

III. ACTIVATION, DEACTIVATION, AND NON-ACTIVATION OF CONTINGENCY PLAN
These contingency measures are guided in coordination with the relevant DepEd Central
(CO) offices and affected regions, divisions, and schools, shall continue leading the
implementation of existing mechanisms for monitoring, reporting, and responding to the
impacts of calamities. This includes the suspension of face-to-face classes and work in
schools, the activation of SDDRM eams, and the implementation of other learning delivery
modes.
A. Activation - This contingency plan shall be activated and implemented based
on the risk situation caused by warmer temperatures due to prevailing warm
and dry season as announced by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and
Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on March 21, 2023. The
school implements face to face classes in the morning and Modular Distance
Learning in the afternoon from May 2 to May 31, 2023.
B. Deactivation- In case that the covid19 pandemic will have a vaccine and
treatment already available and upon the declaration of the Secretary of DOH,
RD’s, SDS’s and school heads and the recommendation of IATF or other authorized
agencies and government officials. The RD through Regional DRRMC if it
approves recommendation for demobilization and deactivation of the CPs and
Normal Alert Status.
C. Non-activation – Sufficient support and prepared response coming from the
Provincial Government of Cavite and when the response plan is enough for
the needs of the affected individual of all the LGU’s, the Contingency Plan will not be
activated.
