Calibration of Bourdon Pressure Gauge

This document describes a device for calibrating a Bourdon pressure gauge. The device includes a Bourdon gauge with a transparent dial connected to a dead weight tester. Students can add known weights to the tester to apply varying pressures and observe how the Bourdon tube mechanism responds. By comparing the theoretical pressures from the weights to the gauge readings, students can determine the gauge's accuracy and potential sources of error. The device allows students to see how Bourdon tube pressure gauges work and to experimentally calibrate one.

Description Learning Outcomes

Many engineering applications use the Bourdon Function, operation and calibration of a Bourdon tube
gauge. TecQuipment’s Calibration of a Pressure Gauge pressure gauge
experiment allows students to study Bourdon tube theory.
They see the working mechanism, calibrate the gauge Essential Services
and compare theoretical results to experiment results. B ench space needed:
The apparatus is a Bourdon gauge connected to a dead 400 mm x 500 mm
weight tester. The Bourdon gauge has a transparent
dial that allows students to see the working mechanism. O per ating C o nd itio ns

To calibrate the gauge, students add weights to a platform +5°C to +40°C

pressure readings from the gauge at each increment. Specifications
