Assessment Brief:
Research proposal:
The Research proposal should be between 1500 words. The Proposal (10%) must
be completed and submitted during the early stages of the module, ideally in week
10 of semester one.

The research proposal is a structured plan of your proposed research. Before you
write your proposal, you will need to be aware of the following:

 The research philosophy and approach you would like to use


 The Research design including methodological choice
 Research Strategy and time frame
 Access and Ethical Issues
 Sample Selection
 Data Collection and Data Analysis Techniques

The proposal should reflect:

 Coherence
 Ethical Consideration
 Feasibility

A suggested structure:

 Research Title
 Background to Research Topic

 Research Aims and Objectives
 Research Methodology

Minimum Secondary Research Source Requirements:


Level HE6 - It is expected that the Reference List will contain between fifteen to
twenty sources. As a MINIMUM the Reference List should include three refereed
academic journals and five academic books.

Ethics Form:
RESEARCH ETHICS CHECKLIST (Form RE1) – You must submit a completed
Ethics form as part of your submission. The form is issued separately.
