Meeting with Sav and Kerrie Saverimutto (Noah Saverimutto)

27/10/2023

Positive:
- Noah seemed to find it hard to adjust back to school in Week 1 and was getting upset
quite a lot but has seemed much happier in the past 2 weeks
- He is trying really hard to do the work – making positive choices that will help him do
his work (e.g. when students are able to choose their seats he chooses to sit right at
the front to concentrate)
- He is so kind to everyone, was working with another student yesterday who wasn’t
up to the question Noah was and he said “partners never leave each other behind”
- Did amazingly at Frayne Day

Sentence structure goal:

- Have been working each morning with Noah on sentence structure and using the
coloured semantics book.
- He can tell me really long sentences that make sense verbally, but is still having
trouble recognising where a sentence should end when he is writing paragraphs.
- Want to focus on simplifying his sentences and just using ‘who’ ‘doing’ ‘what’ and
that being a full sentence, so that he gets into the habit of using punctuation at the
end of each full set.

Follow ups:
- Paediatrician?
- Were the notes for the term that were provided useful? (emails about maths tests)
- Still receiving Maths support, but found it really hard to recognise Mixed Numbers
and Improper Fractions. Could his tutor do some extra practise with him?
- Have been trying really hard to encourage him in all areas – he volunteered to sing a
solo at the end of assembly but he isn’t sure if he wants to do it anymore

Concerns:
- He is very weak academically
- Lots of trouble following simple instructions even after repeating them back to me
- Really worried for him moving forward to more independent years where there is
less support
