Wool Needle (for sewing)
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
inc – 2 stitches into next stitch
dec – decrease over next two stitches in front loops only
BLO – sc into back loops only picking up the extra loop at the back of the previous hdc
row to create a firmer stitch
FLO – sc into front loops only
sl st – slip stitch
f/o – fasten off by slip stitch in next stitch
y/o – yarn over
cl – (y/o, pick up st) x3, y/o, take each stitch individually over last y/o to form single cluster
stitch
Note:
Unless stated work in continuous rounds marking last stitch of each row with a stitch
marker before proceeding with the next.
When stuffing parts make sure that you don’t overstuff them as you don’t want the stuffing
to show through when complete.
Each part should be filled just enough that it can be easily squeezed when pinched firmly.
Legs (x2):
Using Shoe Color
Row 1: ch2, sc 6sts in 2nd st from hook (alternatively sc 6sts in magic ring) (6)
Row 2: inc x6 (12)
Row 3: sc (12)
Row 4: dec x6 (6)
F/O leaving a short end
Using Trouser Color
Row 5: FLO Row: sl st into sc to right of F/O st, sc to end (6)
Stuff foot lightly
Rows 6 – 15: sc (6) (10 rows)
Row 16: fold flat and working through both layers sc to end (3)
F/O leaving a 5cm end.
Secure with a couple of small sts.
Weave end through leg and cut flush.
Arms (x2):
Using Flesh Tone
Row 1: ch2, sc 8sts in 2nd st from hook (alternatively sc 8sts in magic ring) (8)
Rows 2 – 3: sc (8) (2 rows)
Row 4: (sc into next 2sts, dec) x2 (6)
F/O leaving a short end
Using Jumper Color
Row 5: FLO Row: sl st into sc to right of F/O st, sc to end (6)

Row 12: fold flat and working through both layers sc to end (3)
F/O leaving a 5cm end.
Secure with a couple of small sts.

Row 7: hdc (30) sl st to join

Using Jumper Color
Row 8: BLO Row: sl st into hdc to right of F/O st, sc to end (30)
Row 9: sc (30)
Row 10: hdc into next 5sts, lay arm across top of next 3sts and then hdc into next 3sts

Using Flesh Tone

Stuff Body
Row 21: dec x6 (6)
Hair:
Row 22: Cut Flesh Tone wool leaving a 10cm end.
Using Hair Color and leaving a 10cm end, ch1, pull Flesh Tone tight to hide color change,
join 10cm ends with a small knot, (ch4, sl st in 2 nd ch from hook, sl st in next 2ch, dec) x3
(3 head tufts)
F/O leaving a 25cm end
Run 25cm end through base of head tufts, pull tight to gather making sure that all the
10cm ends are inside the body.
Secure end with a couple of small sts.
DO NOT CUT END AS WILL NEED FOR EYEBROWS
Features:
Eyes
Using Black
Thread end up through head and come out 2sts to the side of the nose.
Do 3 back sts, 1 row in depth.
Thread end through to other side of nose 2sts to the side of the nose.
Do 3 back sts, 1 row in depth.
Weave end through head and cut flush.
Mouth
Using Ladybird
Split wool and using only 1 strand, thread end through to centre of face, 1 row below the
nose.
Embroider the mouth using small back sts in whichever shape you prefer.
Weave end through head and cut flush.
Eyebrows
Using end from Hair Tufts, thread needle through the head and bring it out 2 rows above
the inside edge of the eye.
Do 1 back st, 1 st in length, angled down 1 row towards the outer edge of eye.
Repeat for 2nd eyebrow.
To secure eyebrow, thread end back up through the head and come out at the base of tufty
hair being careful not to distort the head.
Secure end with a couple of small sts.
Weave through head and cut flush.
