e thank God for another opportunity
given to us to embark on this year’s
40 Days of Power. Our annual season
of fasting, prayer and consecration continues to
grow in scope and stature with many practical life
changing testimonies of people being shared from
all over the world.

Last year, amid a global pandemic, 40 Days of

Power underwent a total transformation as the
prayer services were fully conducted online every
day. ICGC churches on various continents and
Christians all over the globe were united as we
offered intercession to God and waited upon Him
for His direction and strength.

Not surprisingly, many shared testimonies about

receiving comfort and strength to forge ahead in
the face of COVID-19 and its attendant disruptions.
Here we are, still standing firm in His sure word of
prophesy. To Him alone be all honour and glory.

This year, 40 Days of Power comes off from Saturday 26th June to Wednesday 4th August
2021. Once again, ICGC churches and Christians all over the world will come together in
this spiritual adventure of daily fasting and prayer for spiritual renewal and strength
as well as for our personal, family, church, national and global issues.

There will be online prayers every weekday from 5am to 6pm. This prayer guide is carefully put
together to provide us with scripture-based prayer points to cover various areas of need. This
year’s guide has weekly themes and daily sub-themes with scriptures to anchor our prayers.
There are also scriptures for morning and evening reflections. The prayers sections are divided
into personal, global missions and nation building and lastly, personal needs. Each section of
prayer ends with a declaration. We believe that this guide will enrich your fasting and prayer
experience.

When we fast, let us be mindful to do so wisely and healthily for physical and spiritual
benefits. Included are some helpful tips on effective fasting that you will find helpful.

I pray that this prayer guide will be a useful companion for the 40 days. I also pray for
God’s supernatural visitation and for the benefits of this fast to be evident in your entire life
afterwards.

May the Lord hear your prayers and answer them speedily!

 HELPFUL HINTS FOR FASTING
The practice of regular fasting is a normal Christian behaviour taught by
Jesus. In Matthew 6:16–18, Jesus provided guidelines for fasting. Fasting was
also practiced by the early church as evidenced in Acts 13:2. It has been the
regular discipline of believers throughout church history.

Fasting has physical as well as spiritual benefits. It must be embarked on with

spiritual commitment and wisdom. Everything should be done to the glory of God.

Do’s Of Fasting
1. Prepare your body for the fast; cut back on food portions and eat smaller meals
a few days prior to the fast.
2. Prevent constipation during and after the fast by eating fresh fruit and raw
vegetables, fruit or vegetable juices, oatmeal, etc.
3. Drink lots of water when fasting.
4. Seek medical advice before the fast if you have any existing health conditions.
5. You can fast in many different ways. For example, a Daniel fast is one in which
you consume only vegetables and water throughout. Pray and ask God what He
will give you faith for the duration of the fast.
6. Have a clear target as your prayer focus. Without a vision or clear goal, the
people perish. Write down your vision for the fast so you can run with it
(Habakkuk 2:2).
7. Take time to pray and read the word. This may seem obvious, but busyness and
distractions can keep you from daily devotions. Expect to hear God’s voice in
the word, dreams, visions, and revelations. Daniel prepared himself to receive
revelation through fasting (Daniel 10:1–2).
8. Break your fast gradually. At this point you will need to exercise watchful self-
control. Break your fast on a meal that is light and easy to digest (i.e., broth, a
shredded apple, watermelon, or steamed vegetables).
9. Prepare for opposition. Satan tempted Jesus on the fast, and we must expect
the same. Discouragement may come but take your stand on the victory of
Christ.

Don’ts Of Fasting
1. Avoid high-fat and sugary foods before the fast.
2. Abstain from strong stimulants such as caffeinated and sugary drinks during
a fast, including the artificial sweeteners found in diet drinks.
3. It is important after a fast to control your cravings and avoid overeating and
nullifying the gains made during the fast.

I am excited that you are joining me on this fast. Commit to staying the course
and fasting from the beginning to the end. I believe that God’s glory will
envelope our nation in a supernatural way as we wait upon the Lord.

 BREAKTHROUGH
So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated
them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken
through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough
of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place

Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all

Personal
1. Thank the Lord for setting you apart to experience His awesome works even in difficult
times.
2. Commit your pursuits to God and ask Him to speak to you during this season and give you
His peace.
3. Ask God to go ahead of you into every battle and overturn the predictions of the enemy.
4. Pray for patience and faith as you wait for your breakthrough; declare that your faith will
be strengthened, as you trust God for victory.
5. Ask the Lord to cause you to breakthrough every difficult situation that troubles your life.
6. Declare God s victory over every battle you are involved in; praise Him for the breakthrough
and turnaround.

Guidance
7. Ask God for wisdom and guidance for all your pursuits; pray that your spirit will be opened
to His wise counsel
8. Ask the Lord to increase your faith to continuously focus on Him, even in the most
challenging moments of life.
9. Receive the spirit of courage and boldness to follow the leading of God to possess every
opportunity He creates for your breakthrough.
10. Pray that in this year of Fruitfulness, God will guide you to discover opportunities and your
field of harvest
11. Lift your family and household to God; ask Him to guide each one to a Salvation decision
and help them to trust Him for opportunities in life.

12. Thank God for giving you grace to trust in His word and for breakthrough in your marriage,
finances, business, education, and all endeavours.

Protection
13. Commit your aspirations and expectations to God and ask Him to protect your mind from
doubt and unbelief; receive grace to resist every negative influence.
14. Present your family to God and ask Him to protect you against the influence of generational
negative cycles; confess that you have redemption in Christ.
15. Confess that because you abide under the shadow of the Almighty, and dwell in His secret
place you have divine protection
16. Pray that the Lord will strengthen your hands in time of battle and subdue your enemies
under your feet.
17. Commit your ways to God and declare, that in this year of Fruitfulness, the fruit of your
labour and investments are protected.
18. Thank God for being your strong tower and defence; declare that in Him, you have the full
protection against afflictions and all the attacks of the enemy.

Declaration
I thank You God that You are the Lord of the Breakthrough; You are the God of mighty wonders and nothing
is hard for You to do! I confess today, that My God goes ahead of me in all my battles and gives me victory.
I will face every mountain and overcome; I will confront every valley and triumph. I will breakthrough
every obstacle and limitation before me through the power of the Almighty. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

Global Missions (11am - 5pm)

19. Pray for the success of Christian medical outreach programs all over the World; ask God to
use their efforts to provide complete healing for the sick in spirit, soul and body.
20. Ask God for revival across the nations of the world; declare that the gospel will break every
barrier and bring salvation to all people.
21. Pull down every spiritual, physical, and mental stronghold hindering the gospel in the
unreached communities; ask God for divine intervention
22. Pray for massive resources and financial provision for the propagation of the gospel;
declare that the church shall receive wealth to accomplish its task.
23. Pray that the church will continue to provide influence as the salt of the earth and as the
light to those in darkness.
24. Thank the Lord Jesus for His promise, that He will build His Church and the gates of hades
will not prevail against it.

Nation Building
25. Intercede for the business community in the nation; ask God for the wisdom to make the
right investments
26. Pray for education, science, technology and industry sectors of the nation; ask God to guide
their knowledge and research into fruitful solutions to the problems in the world.
27. Commit the youth of the nation to God; pray that they will receive creative ideas, innovation,
and abilities to overcome obstacle and maximize their potential.
28. Ask God to raise up a new generation with great vision, ambition and focus in the world;
declare that with wisdom and understanding there will be global economic progress.
29. Pray for supernatural intervention in the challenges confronting the nation; ask God for a
favourable turnaround as we seek His guidance.

development. The body of Christ has entered into a season of rising. There is growth and increase on every side.
I decree that my nation is blessed and coming out of all inhibition. I call all these done in Jesus’ name. Amen!

37. Affirm your faith in God s word and confess that He will not forsake you and your children
will not beg for bread.
38. Ask God to frustrate the plans of the enemy against your family and manifest His blessings
and favour upon you.

Deuteronomy 1:1-8

These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on this side of the Jordan in the wilderness, in

Declaration
I declare that I am advancing in victory because the Lord has gone before me. He has given me insight
and wisdom for uncommon victories. I declare that there is no situation that I cannot overcome.
The Lord is with me as a mighty warrior; therefore my enemies will stumble and fall. I am growing daily
in my relationship with God and I am fruitful in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Guidance

9. Pray that the Holy Spirit will lead you to break the barriers of fear and limitations and lead
you to discover new opportunities.
10. Commit your children to the Lord and ask the Spirit of God to guide them into his perfect

11. Ask for the strength and courage to stand in times of adversities; declare that God will guide
you to overcome the struggles and challenges you encounter.
12. Pray and surrender your will, desire and aspirations to God, trusting Him to bring you to
the expected end.

13. Thank God for the power in the blood of Jesus that speaks for you and is a covering from all
attacks of evil.
14. Pray that the Lord will deliver you and your family form any kind of stagnation; declare that
the season of marking-time is over.
15. Thank God for His continues presence that protects your life. Praise His name for His angels
that surrounds you day and night.
16. Lift your household to God and ask Him to deliver each one from evil company; pray that
God will surround them with people who will inspire them to great accomplishment.
17. Pray that by the strength of God you will overcome every challenging situation that
confronts your health, finances, marriage, and work.
18. Thank God for the power you have in the name of Jesus to overcome every force of
opposition on your path to success; confess that you will run through every resistance set
against your wellbeing.

Declaration
I declare with all boldness that the Lord lights my lamp; I walk out of every darkness surrounding
me and abide in the light. I am anointed with vision and insight to overcome every situation and
circumstance that hinders my progress and growth. I am empowered and strengthened by the Spirit of
God to face every opposition and walk in victory in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Global Missions (11am - 5pm)

19. Ask the Lord to build His church and declare that nothing shall prevail against it; declare
supernatural harvest of souls in every nation.
20. Ask God to anoint the ministers of the gospel with the spirit of boldness to preach the word
of God and shepherd the people God has brought their way.
21. Pray that every believer will experience a closer relationship with God through the
knowledge of Christ and the power of His resurrection.
22. Ask God to establish His church in every nation and in every community as the beacon
of hope; Pray that He will make you a pillar in the church and renew your passion for lost
souls.
23. Intercede for all missionaries and their households that God will protect, guide and prosper
their way as they labor to win souls for His Kingdom.
24. Declare that the Lord will strengthen His church; Ask Him for wisdom and insight to identify
creative opportunities to expand and grow the church.

Nation Building
25. Pray that the wisdom for economic transformation will abound to leaders and managers of
the world economy to enable them develop policies that create economic prosperity for the
world.
26. Bind every practice and belief that hinders and frustrates the growth, prosperity, and
progress of the nation; declare a turnaround and change in attitudes to foster development.
27. Pray for God s deliverance from the COVID-19 pandemic in the nations of the world; ask

These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on this side of the Jordan in

the wilderness, in the plain opposite Suph, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth,
and Dizahab. It is eleven days journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh
Barnea. Now it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first
day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the
Lord had given him as commandments to them, after he had killed Sihon king of the
Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who dwelt at Ashtaroth in
Edrei. On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law,
saying, The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: You have dwelt long enough at
this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites,

1. Offer thanksgiving to God. Bless Him for His goodness and for His steadfast love towards
