My Design of Steel Structures Book Details 1692069768

This document provides information on various structural steel projects designed by Dr. N. Subramanian including castellated beams over a sports complex in the UK, the Beijing National Stadium, various airport terminals, and a stainless steel grid roof. It also summarizes the evolution of the Indian code for structural design IS 800 from its first version in 1956 to the current 2007 version. The document outlines the typical chapters covered in a design code and provides details on a structural failure at the Hyatt Regency hotel in 1981. Overall, the document appears to be presenting information on structural design and projects by Dr. N. Subramanian.

40-story Hyatt Regency hotel in Kansa City,
Missouri, USA-opened in July 1, 1980.

The 4th and 2nd floor walkways hung one above

the other and the third floor walkway hung offset
to one side. These walkways all connected to
steel trusses that hung from the atrium ceiling.

July 17th 1981- During a party 4th floor walkway

failed and fell on the lower walkway- both
crashing into the floor killing 114 people and
injuring 185. The third floor walkway was not
involved in the collapse.
