MPT Service Cable

This document discusses antenna alignment and provides instructions for connecting equipment to measure received signal strength indication (RSSI) voltage from an antenna. It describes connecting a LEMO connector to an antenna and banana plugs on a cable to a multi-meter to measure voltage and maximize antenna alignment. It also explains connecting an RSSI voltage cable from a transceiver port to a voltmeter to measure the signal voltage.

• Connector usage:
− (M1) LEMO connector, to be plugged into LEMO connector on MPT ODU.
− banana plugs (M3) and (M4): output is a 0 to +5V DC voltage proportional
to the radio Rx field. During equipment line–up, through a multi–meter it is
possible to easily point the antenna until the measured voltage is the
maximum, corresponding to the maximum radio Rx field.
− (M2) RJ45 connector, to connect MCT directly to the MPT.

34.2.2.3 Using the RSSI voltage at the MPT-HLS/HLC

A voltmeter, such as a multimeter, is used to measure RSSI voltage.

Use the MPT-HLS/HLC RSSI voltage cable in addition to the voltmeter.

To measure the signal using the RSL voltage:

1. Connect a voltmeter to the port on the transceiver using the MPT-HLS/HLC

RSSI voltage cable:
− the PRx port on the MPT-HLS (see Figure 465)
