glands appear lateral at 8 week i.u while the minor salivary glands begin their development during the third month, The epithelium bud grows into an extensively branched system of cords that are solid but gradually develop a lumen and become system and are formed by repeated branching and budding of the finer cell cords and ducts. Structure Of Salivary Gland: Both of the major and minor salivary gland are composed of (Fig.44): 1- Parenchymal elements develop as an epithelial outgrowth, which invades the underlying mesenchyme. 2- The connective tissue stroma [capsule and septa] Forms from the mesenchyme. The connective tissue forms a capsule around the gland’ and extends into it, dividing groups of secretory units and ducts into lobes and lobules. The blood and lymph vessels and nerves that supply the gland are contained within the connective tissue capsule. The secretory end pieces are known as acini. There are tow kinds of acinar cells, Mucous and serous. These cells form a grape- like or tubular end piece. The base of these cells rests on the connective tissue and the apex faces the center of the tube or circular structure. Partially surrounding each secretory acinus is the myoepithelial cells, GB camscanner
