NGO Affairs Bureau, Govern ment of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation:
BPF was founded in 1984, by a group of co mmitted professionals and parents who had been working towards the
establishment of the rights of children with disabilit ies (CWDs).
Main objecti ve:
The children with disabilit ies and disadvantages are included in the mainstream society with equal rights,
opportunities and dignity within the protective environment.
Programme:
1. Shishu Bikash Clinic
Assessment, Diagnostic, Management, Medical and
therapeutic intervention by multi professional approach.
Clinical Neurosciences Center (CNC)
The Investigations are:
• EEG-Electroencephalogram
• EM G- Electro myogram
• BSA EP- Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential
• ERG- Electro Ret ienogram
Distance Training Package Program (DTP)
Train ing is offered through pictorial training booklets to the parents/caregivers of the children with disabilit ies
residing in the very remote areas where no services for the children with disabilities exist. Distance Training
Package Programme (DTTP) has been developed in the following developmental Areas:
Motor
Speech and Language
Cognitive
Social and self help skill, daily liv ing activities
Package for the children with Autism Spectru m
Disorder
Counseling
Providing DTP in rural area
2. Education:
a) S pecial Education: BPF runs a Special School named Kallyani for children with intellectually challenged
Cerebral Palsy, Visually Impaired with additional disabilities , Hearing Impaired, Autism Spectru m Disorder and
Multiple d isabilities etc .
Chil dren wi th intellectually disabled: Children with
intellectual impairments are enrolled in this class with the
age range fro m three to nine years. According to
functional abilit ies IEP is prepared for each child. Ch ildren
are referred to inclusive clas ses when they are ready and
also refer to nearby mainstream schools. Older children are
graduated in the prevocational classes.
Chil dren with Autism S pectrum Disorder : W ith
gradual parental awareness children are coming at very
early ages and BPF starts early intervention program
together with parents training. Children with ASD also
attend regular and vocational classes. The age ranges is
fro m below t wo years and above.
Children with Visually Impaired with Additional
disabilities: Every student has Individual Educational Plan
(IEP). The IEP depends on each child‟s present
performance. Family involvement is extremely important
for working with these children. The age ranges of the
children are 2 years to 16 years.
Mother Chil d Stimulati on Programme: Ch ildren
with physical disabilities- with age ranging from few
months to 5 years come with their mothers and the
teacher works with the mother to train them as to how
to handle and manage their child at home.
b) Inclusive Primary Education: The National
Curriculum of Text Book Board (NCTB) is followed
making it flexible according to individual children‟s need.
c) Inclusive pre - class: BPF run Inclusive Pre- Class
for physical, psychological, social, emotional and
moral develop ment with the age range from 3-5 years.
If all children including children with disabilities are
given early stimu lation and education together in the
same program – the dream of the “Society for All” will
become reality.
d) School Lunch
Children are provided a balanced meal six days in
a week in rural and five days in urban schools .
3. Sheltered Workshops for Pre vocational and Vocational Training: Training is provided on Craft work,
Computer, Tailoring, Cow and Poultry rearing, bakery, carpentry and canteen to make children independent and self-reliant.
Vocati onal Unit
Students above the age of 18 years are enrolled in
this unit for rehabilitation in the mainstream society.
4. Matreechaya (Crèche, s pecial and inclusi ve school for RMG workers’ chil dren)
Early ch ildhood development, Education,
Train ing, School lunch, Assessment, Medical and
Therapeutic intervention are provided for children
of the working mothers in garments.
5. Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBR)
BPF has started CBR program in rural areas e.g.
Dhamrai 58 km, Savar 40km, Norshingdi 45 km,
Kishoregonj 150km, Faridpur 120km and Barisal 220
km away fro m Dhaka city and one at Mirpur (urban),
Dhaka of Bangladesh.

6. Bangladesh Institute of Speci al Educati on:
Institute run by BPF facilitates Training (short and long)
and Research for special education teachers and related
professionals and personnel. It is affiliated with National
University offering Bachelor (BSEd ) and Master in
Special Education (MSEd) in the field of Visual, Hearing
and Intellectual disability.
7. Income Generating Program:
Economic Empowerment: Job Placement, Australia
and Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation jointly
disbursed funds to the family of the Disabled children
to imp rove the financial condition and empower
mother and the child in the family and in the
community .
8. Inclusi ve Empl oyment
BPF has started job placement programme for adult
students (above 18 years) in different job sectors.

9. Other Support Programme
Parent’s Voice: Parents take part in day long discussions,
workshops, exhibitions, fairs which BPF facilitates.

Parks, zoo, forests, ecological farming, craft villages, hill tracts, and rivers: to bring a sense of „fun‟ into the
lives of CWDs; allow parents to take part in these projects on a voluntary basis
10. Research and Publicati on
Developed tools and instruments through research for screening and assessment, and two Epidemiological
researches were carried out during the year 1997-1988 and 2001-2002 to find out the Prevalence rate of
Disability.
