I. Project Title: Suffer in Silence NO MORE: A Mental Health Awareness
Seminar
II. Statement of the Need/Rationale:
The program intended to seek individuals that might be experiencing an
issue/problem with their own mental health as well as to provide them support
and guidance on dealing with it, with the help of the expert that will discuss
why or how to handle the individual’s mental health if there is an
issue/problem; along with ways on seeking help whether in authority, friends,
family, etc.
We, students of Camarines Norte State College, conducted a data gathering
study, a survey, in order to determine if there are sufficient number of
individual’s that are suffering with their mental health and examine whose
individual are more prone with the conflict.
After the data is collected, we will have the basis and insights on mental
health crisis that the individuals experiencing to the chosen area/community.
The respondents that chosen in the data gathering represents the crucial
stage of development characterized by significant transitions and challenges,
such as career choices, academic pressures, and personal growth;
understanding the specific mental health needs and experiences of these
demographic within the context of their environment at Barangay 1 Purok 3,
Mercedes, Camarines Norte.

III. Project Objectives:
1. To address mental health issues/problem that may experience by the
individuals, ranging from the age of 18-25 years old in Barangay 1
Purok 3, Mercedes, Daet Camarines Norte.
2. To spread awareness. People often overlook mental health problems
because they cannot see the person visibly suffering from them. Mental
health awareness is vital for society’s mental and physical health, so
spreading awareness among people about mental health will ensure a
happier and healthier population
3. To reduce stigma and discrimination. As a result of the stigma and
discrimination many people are reluctant to seek help, which can
worsen their symptoms and further isolate them. By fostering a culture
of acceptance for persons with mental illnesses /problems to seek
assistance, developing coping mechanisms, and begin their recovery,
talking about mental health benefits in our communities
4. To give motivation. Providing individual a support and guidance to
increase their self-esteem, to not get down or isolate themselves when
facing issue in mental health, instead, be able learn to speak up to their
problems as well as listen to others too.

IV. Methodology:
1. Pre-Implementation
Before the implementation of the program in order to provide basis on this
project, a data gathering process, a survey, which is conducted to the
community that will help produce a sufficient data that will support and
guide the event effectively.
2. Implementation
This one-day seminar is open for all willing participants of the Barangay 1,
Purok 3, Road 5, of Mercedes, Camarines Norte who wants to learn about
Mental Health and to also help them gain enough knowledge about Mental
Health and Problems associated with it.
This Seminar is a combination of Presentations and Lecture – Discussion
style that will be presented by a Mental Health expert. And after the
discussions, an open forum will be conducted for all the participants where
they can all freely ask mental health related questions that will be
answered by the mental health expert.
3. Post-Implementation
After the said seminar, the participants are expected to understand what
mental health is all about, how important it is to take care of and prioritize
our mental health. We also hope that through this seminar, the participants
will be aware of the early sign and symptoms associated with their mental

health problems and will learn a lot about how to deal with their mental
health problems and how to seek support from a mental health expert and
even from those who care about them.

Developing a greater understanding on mental health especially to a
community will help to understand social movement and increase access to
health not just inside the community but also possibly outside, and advocating
the importance of understanding mental health as well as its impact to one’s
well-being will decrease the public’s issue like suicide occurrence,
discrimination, etc.
