TP FINAL ASSIGMENT THE COMPANY: M.A.C COSMETICS

Good evening! We are Karen Ardiles, Micaela Escobar and Ludmila Oliva. We are going to
talk about M.A.C Cosmetics. We choose it because it is a company that offers products for
professional and personal use.

Mac cosmetics creates products for all people without distinction of age, race or sex. Also,
Mac does not test on animals and that is important for us.

We have divided the presentation of the company into five parts.

First part, we will talk about its history, its subsidiaries and the type of structure it uses to run
the business. Second part, we will share its Mission and Vision. In the third part, we will talk
a little about the products and services it offers, its position in the market and its main
competitors. Fourth part, we will present a graph on the products most chosen by consumers
and finally we will talk about the conclusion.

First Part
History of the company, subsidiaries and type of structure

M.A.C is a makeup and cosmetics company. It was founded in 1984 in Toronto, Canada
where the head office is located. Its founders are Frank Takan, makeup artist and
photographer and Frank Angelo, owner of a beauty salon. They started making their products
at home and then sold them in the beauty salon to artists and makeup artists.
Its popularity increased when Madonna wore a matte red lipstick from the Russian Red MAC
line in a photo shoot

The Company has a functional structure because there is a general director and the most
important areas are Sales and Marketing. There are different bosses in each country.

MAC cosmetics is one of the greatest representatives of the industry. It is positioned among
the 10 best professional makeup brands. As the second brand chosen by users, also, it is
chosen by many celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Madonna, Kim
Kardashian, Elton John, among others.

Since 1994, M·A·C has been part of The Estée Lauder Companies and today its products are
sold in more than 105 countries around the world. Their commitment to developing new
categories, products and more than 50 collections every year continues, serving the needs of
both consumers and makeup artists. Currently the company has more than 10,000 employees
in different countries.
Second Part

The Mission of it is To be the world leader in makeup, an authority for both professional
makeup artists and consumers and Vision is to be the makeup brand of choice for all ages, all
races and all sexes, who seek the best in quality, creativity and innovation. They wish to
maintain sustainable production in all countries where MAC COSMETICS is located.

Third Part

Products and services, position in the market, its main competitor and future plans

The products that the company offers can be divided into 4 groups:

- Makeup: eye liner, lips, foundation, eyes shadow

- Preparators and treatment: skin care

- Brushes and tools

- Others: fragances

Also, the company offers makeup services and classes.

The Main competitors of Mac Cosmetics' that we find are Sephora, Urban Decay and Nars.
However, MAC ranks first in quality, compared to its competitors.

As a competitive advantage, MAC uses the innovation in its products and brand image as a
differentiation strategy to stand out among its competitors. Mac Cosmetics champions
diversity and demonstrates it with the famous slogan "All ages, all races, all genders".

Like a future plan, the company has as purpose create an exclusive makeup line for men. For
that, they must:

Image/positioning objective: That 20% of men know the products or the brand.

Product testing goal: Have 10% of men try the product.

Sales objective: MAC sales made by men are 5% in the world.

This graph shows the best-selling products in 2022. As you can see, the best-selling product
chosen by users was the Matte Lipstick Velvet Teddy with 34%, while the second best-
selling product was the Studio Face and Body Foundation. While the other products occupied
41% of sales.

Conclusion:

M.A.C is a makeup and cosmetics company. It was founded in 1984 in Toronto, Canada by
Frank Takan and Frank Angelo. Since 1994, M·A·C has been part of The Estée Lauder
Companies and today its products are sold in more than 105 countries around the world.
The company offers makeup, preparation and treatment products for skin, broshes and tools
and fragrances. Also the company offers makeup services and classes of this.
It is the second brand chosen by users, also, it is chosen by many celebrities like Angelina
Jolie, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Madonna, Kim Kardashian and others.
