Skill Level: Easy


Materials:
• US size K (6.5 mm) crochet hook
• ball of # 5 Chunky yarn - 8.8 oz, 249 yds
o Bernat Maker Outdoor in Summer Storm Gray
• Large Eye Tapestry Needle
• Button (optional)

Abbreviations:
ch(s): chain(s)
hdc(s): half double crochet(s)
sc: single crochet
sl st: slip stitch
st(s): stitch(es)
inc: increase (2 hdcs in st)

Gauge:
4” x 4” 14 stitches by 10 rows

Finished Size:
Diameter = approx. 9.5-10”
Width = 3”

Notes:
The wrong side (side with the extra loop from the hdc) of the circles will be the outsides
of the bag.

Pattern Instructions

Start with a magic ring

Round 1: ch 1, 6 hdc in ring, tighten ring to close, join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (6 hdc)

Round 2: ch 1, inc in ea st around, join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (12 hdc)

Round 3: ch 1, [inc in the each of next 2 sts, hdc] 4 times, join with sl st to top of 1st hdc
(20 hdc)

Round 4: ch 1, [hdc, inc] 10 times, join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (30 hdc)

Round 5: ch 1, [hdc in next 2 sts, inc] 10 times, join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (40 hdc)

Round 6: ch 1, hdc in next 2 sts, [inc, hdc in next 3 sts] 9 times, inc, hdc, join with sl st to
top of 1st hdc (50 hdc)

Round 7: ch 1, [hdc in the next 4 sts, inc] 10 times, join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (60
hdc)

Round 8: ch 1, hdc in next 2 sts, [inc, hdc in next 5 sts] 9 times, inc, hdc in next 3 sts,
join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (70 hdc)

Round 9: ch 1, [hdc in the next 6 sts, inc] 10 times, join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (80
hdc)

Round 10: ch 1, hdc in next 2 sts, [inc, hdc in next 7 sts] 9 times, inc, hdc in next 5 sts,
join with sl st to top of 1st hdc (90 hdc)

Round 11: ch 1, hdc in next 7 sts, [inc, hdc in next 8 sts] 9 times; inc, hdc, join with sl st
to top of 1st hdc (100 hdc)

Tie off first side.

Repeat making the second side - do not tie off second side.

Joining Sides of Circle Bag (see pages 5-11 for photos of these steps)

If you've already tied off both sides, join yarn anywhere on the outer round of one of the
sides

Ch 7, join with a sl st to the other circle anywhere on the outer round making sure the
same sides are facing out. The wrong sides will be the outside of the bag.

Row 1: sl st "up" to the next st (functions as a ch 1), sc in 1st ch, sc in ea ch, join with a
sl st to the next st "up" from the ch

Row 2: sl st "up" to the next st (functions as a ch 1), turn, sc in ea st across, sl st to next


st "up" from the start of the row below on the outer round of the circle.

Repeat Row 2 for a total of 71 rows

Adding purse handles

Join yarn in the 8th st from either the side of bag

Strand 1: Chain 47 and join with a sl st to the 8th st from the other side of the bag

Strand 2: sl st to the 7th st from the side, ch 48, join with sl st to 7th st on other side.

Strand 3: sl st to the 6th st from the side, ch 49, join with sl st to 6th st on other side.

Strand 4: sl st to the 5th st from the side, ch 50, join with sl st to 5th st on other side.

Repeat Strands 1-4 on other side of the crochet circle bag.

Hold 4 of the strands together from one side of the bag. Join yarn around the 4 strands
towards the middle. 12 Scs around the 4 strands. Tie off. Before weaving in the ends,
adjust the scs to be in the middle of the handle and remove the gaps - the stitches
should be easy to move around.

Optional Button:

Sew button, centered between the handles, on Round 10. From the other side of the
purse, attach yarn in the 7th stitch in from the handle, ch as many as needed to snuggly
fit around the button and attach to the 7th st in from the other side of the handle. Tie off
and weave in ends!

12 Scs around the 4 strands. Tie off. Before weaving in the ends, adjust the scs to be in the
middle of the handle and remove the gaps - the stitches should be easy to move around.

Optional Button: Sew button, centered between the handles, on Round 10. From the other side
of the purse, attach yarn in the 7th stitch in from the handle, ch as many as needed to snuggly fit
around the button and attach to the 7th st in from the other side of the handle. Tie off and weave
in ends!
