The document discusses challenges in teaching English for communicative competence and possible improvements. The challenges include diversity among learners, limited resources, and language barriers. Suggested improvements are using various teaching strategies to accommodate different learners, utilizing online resources to address limited funds, and creating a supportive environment to practice English despite mistakes. A multiliteracy approach is proposed involving activities to develop linguistic, sociolinguistic, strategic, and discourse competencies through exercises like reading, listening, speaking, writing, role playing, debates, and projects. Reflect about the challenges we have in teaching communicative competence.

How could you improve on the ways we teach English to our learners to achieve
communicative competence.

CHALLENGES POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS

1. Diversity in/of (learning styles, and Educators must have development, they
knowledge in technology need to generate new and various
strategies in catering the learner’s needs.
Flexible learning areas, collaborative
activities/learning, and peer tutoring are
also the other solutions that can help to
address the diversity of the learners.
2. Limited Resources Utilize the available online references, try
to ask for educational donations from the
government/organizations, try to create
a local fund raising, and be creative by
encouraging the learners to do a DIY
educational materials that will not cost
that much, but a help from the educators
is needed too.
3. Language Barriers First as an educator we must promote a
positive learning environment in order to
make the learners feel that it is okay for
them to have mistakes as they practice
the language. After creating that we can
pair the learners who have a difficulty in
English with their classmates who were
bilingual or good in English, we
probably need to have visual aids more
for them to have an idea and practice in
learning the language, we need to create
group activities that will make the
learners to interact with one another for
them to learn each others language, for
the last we especially need the
engagement of their parents or family
because they were the people who was
with the learners always.

5. Write your reflection and conclusion.

I learned that:
We need to fully understand the things needed in teaching English and
language because we need to help the learners to reach the communicative
competence. With proper implementations and integration of approaches,
components, keys, etc. the competences will be reached.

I realized that:
As a future educator, I must understand, learn, or master the things related to
teaching English and language because I would be one of the educators who will
create a strong and reliable foundation of knowledge for the learners.

I think there is a need to:

Have a self-improvement, it does not matter if you are an educator or learner
because you cannot always rely on other people to be communicatively competent.
You need to make an effort to learn more.
