MOON PHASE CORRESPONDENCES
If the magical working you want to do is to receive something, or to gain something,
complete your spell during a waxing or full moon.
If you want to get rid of something, complete your spell during the waning moon.
For new beginnings the new moon phase is best.
New Moon Magic
Magical workings should be completed from the day of the new moon to three and a half
days after.
New moon are great for starting something new, all beginnings, love, romance, and
friendship as well as health and well being, job seeking, promotions, and family or home
additions.
Waxing Moon Magic
Waxing moon workings can be done from seven to fourteen days after the new moon.
The waxing moon is for constructive magic such as love, wealth, success, courage,
friendship, luck or health. This is when new planting should be done.
Full Moon Magic
Full moon workings can be done from fourteen to seventeen and a half days after the new
moon. The full moon is for fertility, conjuring, prophecy, protection, divination, any
working that needs extra power, new or increased knowledge, legal undertakings, money
and dreams.
Waning Moon Magic
Waning moon workings can be done from three and a half to ten and a half days after the
full moon. The waning moon is for banishing magic, for ridding oneself of addictions,
any destructive spells, illness or negativity. This is when herbs and flowers should be
taken.
Dark Moon Magic
Dark moon magic workings can be done from ten and a half to fourteen days after the full
moon. The dark moon is a time for dealing with attackers, exploring our darkest recesses,
understanding our angers and passions, and bringing justice to bear.
MOON MAGIC AND THE ELEMENTS
The Element Of Fire
Any spells, rituals, or workings that include the element of fire should be completed
when the moon is in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius.
The Element Of Earth
Any spells, rituals, or workings that include the element of earth should be completed
when the moon is in Capricorn, Taurus, or Virgo
The Element Of Air
Any spells, rituals, or workings that include the element of air should be completed when
the moon is in Aquarius, Gemini, or Libra.
The Element Of Water
Any spells, rituals, or workings that include the element of water should be completed
when the moon is in Cancer, Pisces, or Scorpio.
FULL MOON OIL
13 drops of sandalwood oil
9 drops of vanilla oil or extract
3 drops of jasmine oil
1 drop of rose oil
These oils should be combined before or during a full moon, and left to charge in a clear,
covered container under the light from the full moon.
The Full Moon Oil is commonly used to anoint candles or yourself and is especially
useful when doing rituals under the full moon.
This is the standard Full Moon Oil recipe for practicing Wiccans. Should you develop
your own scent, feel free to use that. Any oil combination that is left to charge outside
under the light from the full moon will be a true Full Moon Oil.
MOON WATER TONIC
Tonic waters containing the energies of the moon embody very powerful healing benefits
that bring balance and wholeness throughout the body, the mind and the soul.
Clear quartz crystals absorb lunar energy, and amplify the healing benefits already
inherent in the crystal.
Wait for a clear night, preferably on or right before the full moon. Put a quartz crystal in a
clear glass and cover it with one cup of purified water.
Confirm the exact time of sundown. At sundown or no more than a few minutes after,
place the glass outside where it can soak in the light of the moon. Cover the glass with
clear plastic wrap to keep it clean of debris and bugs.
Remove the glass at dawn, and you now have a Full Moon Tonic.
This can be drunk a sip at a time in the mornings, or used in ritual work.
FULL MOON SPELLS
The Moon’s energy is most intense when full. Any magical effort, and especially difficult
ones, can benefit greatly from the potency of this phase.
Use the full Moon to amplify magical intent and to give your spells additional power. To
seal spells performed during the Full Moon, use this well known Wiccan chant, or one of
your own choosing:
“Abundant Mother, Moon so bright
Hear my plea upon this night!
Your fertile power lend to this spell,
Make it potent, strong, and well!”
MOON WOBBLES
According to NASA, the moon rotates on its axis during each 27 day journey around the
earth. A moon wobble can be an unsettling time for magical workings and if you are
planning a ritual you should be sure to check when the moon wobble is occurring on this
moon cycle.
Moon wobbles affect the Earth and can cause extreme or harsh weather and ground
activity like earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. This means they can also affect people.
Some people may be adversely affected with extreme emotion, may become restless, and
might over react to ordinary things.
The general rules for magical workings not to perform during a moon wobble are
considered to be:
• Buying a home or moving
• Starting a new job or major project
• Having important medical work done, except in an emergency
• Doing major car or home repairs, except in an emergency
• Taking long distance trips
• Having any sort of confrontation
Occasionally, a moon wobble may inspire new ideas or greater creativity, they are not
always bad.
The important thing is to pay attention so you know when a moon wobble is occurring
and how it might affect you and any spells you plan to cast.
