Murraya paniculata, commonly known as orange jasmine, orange jessamine, china box or mock
orange,is a species of shrub or small tree in the family Rutaceae
Habit:- A cultivated perennial shrub or small tree
Root :- Tap root system
Stem:- Woody, aerial,erect, cylindrical, rough, branched, solid ,hairy,green.
Leaves:- Ramal, Cauline, alternate, petiolate, exstipulate, pinnately compound, unipinnate,
imparipinnate, leaflets elliptical,entire,obtuse,unicostate reticulate venation gland-
dotted and odorous.
Inflorescence:- Terminal or axillary monochasial cyme.
Flower:-Pedicellate, bracteate, hermaphrodite, actinomorphic, hypogynous, complete ,cyclic, hypogynous,
a cushion shaped disc present below the ovary,pentamerous,white,highly fragrant.
Calyx:- 5 sepals, gamosepalous, valvate aestivation.
Corolla :- 5 petals, polypetalous, imbricate aestivation, gland- dotted and white.
Androecium:- Stamens 10 in two whorls of 5 each, polyandrous, filaments long in outer whorl short while
those of the inner whorl are short, anthers dithecous ,basifixed, introse.
Gynoecium:- Bicarpellary, syncarpous, ovary superior, biloculor, 2 locules, axile placentation, one ovule
each locule, stigma bifid, style long disc below the ovary.
Fruit:- A berry
