DRAWING CONCLUSIONS ND Recommendations

The document provides objectives and instructions for a learning activity about drawing conclusions and making recommendations. The objectives are to have learners 1) create inferences given situations, 2) draw conclusions from given situations, and 3) create logical recommendations based on the conclusions. The activity aims to help learners prepare for reporting findings, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations in their research papers within one hour through facilitated exercises.

RESEARCH 3
Learning AREA:Reporting Findings, Drawing
Conclusions and Making Recommendations

• OBJECTIVES:
• With one hour of facilitated activities,
the learners will be able to :
1. Create inference given situations.
2. Draw conclusions from given
situations.
3. Create logical recommendations base
from each conclusions made.

What are your new
accomplishments in
your research
paper?
REVIEW
What are the two last chapters
of the IMRAD research paper?
What are the components of
the Results?
What are the components of
Discussion?
Pre-Activity :Where Am I ?
• Make an educated guess
by examining the details
of the situation. Indicate
the place where the
narrator is.
Where Am I ?
• The water felt so good on such hot
day. I heard the other children
laughing and yelling across the way.
The concrete was wet from a group of
teenagers splashing each other in the
corner. The lifeguard watched closely
to keep children from running.
Where Am I ?
• As I walked in the door. I was amazed
at the beautiful colours and smell. I
knew that it would be hard to decide
what I would buy with my P50.00 The
chocolate bars look delicious but very
expensive. The gummy bears were not
only cheaper but so colourful! With so
much to choose from, I knew I would be
here for a long time.
Where Am I ?
• As the car entered, a large blast
of water hit the windshield. Huge
flopping sponges began to slap at
the hood. Soon there were suds
filling the sides. As soon as it is
dried, waxing started.
Where Am I ?
• .I was very dark when I enter the
room and it is difficult to see the
walkways to the bleachers. The only
light in the room is coming from the
screen on stage The people seem not
to notice me as a manage may way to
my seat. Their eyes are all glued to
the screen.
Analysis
How did you find the activity?
What did you do to guess the
place being described?
Why do you think the derive a
conclusion in a situation important
in the preparation of you research
paper?
Key Concepts
• INFERENCE
– It is the process of drawing of a conclusion
based on the available evidence plus previous
knowledge and experience.
– It involves reading between the lines and
making an educated guess.
– Since the answer will not be stated explicitly,
researchers must use clues from the text,
coupled with their own experiences, to draw a
logical conclusion.
Conclusion
Conclusion is the most important part of
the paper but most of the time the
weakest.
Conclusion results are different from
findings.
Findings are proofs of discoveries while
conclusion are judgements in connection with
what the study contemplates.
 Findings are formed out of data analysis
while conclusions are abstractions from the
findings.
CONCLUSION
Conclusion highlights the significant
results and expands it to more practical
use for problem solving. Since it
demonstrates the value of the research
done.
To draw a conclusion the researcher must
be able to identify trends, rules, patters or
implications of the findings
What new information will the findings
contribute to the field of knowledge?

Conclusion should be in constant harmony with
the order, arrangement and substance of the
findings.
Conclusions should be stated briefly and straight
to the point in accordance from which the
concrete conditions from which conclusive
interpretation is drawn.
The conclusion should be in an order that
corresponds to the arrangement of the findings
which equally follow the chronological
arrangement of the questions under the
statement of the problem in the study.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Recommendations are critical suggestions
regarding the best course of action in a
certain situation.
The whole idea of a recommendation is
to provide a beneficial guide that will not
only resolve certain issues, but result in a
beneficial outcome.
Recommendations are addressed to the
beneficiaries of the study.
