1. Explain the Secondary and Primary memory of a Computer with an example for each.
Ans. Primary memory. It is called internal memory. It is also called Volatile memory (data
stored on it gets erased automatically when the computer is shut down). It is the main
memory. Directly accessed by the CPU. Primary memory is of two types: RAM and ROM.
Secondary Memory: The memory where the data is stored permanently. It is also called
Non-Volatile Memory (The data stored on it is not lost even after the computer is shut

down. It is also known as external memory. For example, Hard disk, floppy, compact
disc, flash drive, Blu-ray disc, multimedia card, etc.

2. What is the difference between ROM and RAM ?

Ans.: RAM It is called internal memory. It is also called Volatile memory (data stored on it
gets erased automatically when the computer is shut down). It is the main memory.
Directly accessed by the CPU.
ROM is like the computer's long-term memory. It stores important instructions that
help the computer start. It has information that the computer needs every time it's
turned on. ROM is permanent memory. It doesn't forget things when the computer is
turned off. It's like a book that's always in the library. The computer can read the
information from ROM whenever it's needed.

Ans.: Primary name: It is the first name of a file. It can be any name given by the
user. Secondary name: It is the extension of a file like .docx, .bmp, .xlsx, etc. It is
given by the program where it is created. It may vary with the application used.

3. Write the steps to open Windows Explorer.

Ans.: The steps to open the Calculator are:


1. Click on Start button.
2. All programs.
3. Click on Windows File Explorer.
