The Art of Seeing

This document provides an overview of a book about developing the ability to see in the spirit. It begins with a prologue explaining the author's inspiration to write the book and what readers can expect to learn. This includes information about visions, dreams, and steps to strengthen one's "seer anointing". The document then discusses the importance of prayer and reading the Bible to see spiritual things. It emphasizes using imagination as a God-given tool and fueling imagination through positive inputs. Finally, it encourages using "what if" scenarios to imagine solutions when facing challenges. The overall message is that imagination is a gift from God that can help one understand themselves and find answers through simulating potential situations.

Prologue

For a long time now I have desired to write a book about

the Art of Seeing and I thank God that the time has
come to do so. The Holy Spirit has imparted some
knowledge to me that I believe will be able to help you
as you pursue the perfect understanding of how to see in
the Spirit. You shouldn’t read this book if you have no
interest at all in the prophetic because it might not really
make sense. However, if you are interested in the
prophetic ministry or already flow in it, this is the
perfect book to inspire your next level. If you know
nothing about the prophetic and this just happens to be
one of my first books that you read, I suggest you check
my second book titled First Level of Prophecy just to get
you started. In this book, expect to learn about visions,
dreams, how to see and what steps to take to get the
most out of your spiritual growth.

In the process of seeing, there are two important things

that we cannot live without, prayer and the word. Psalms
119:18 “Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful
things from your law.” This verse combines prayer and
the word, and we need to see how, so that we can
4
combine them this way in our lives. There are three
things that we learn from this verse.

1. There are wonderful things in the word of God.

“Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things
from your law.” The word “law” is “Torah” and means
“instruction” or “teaching” in this psalm. There are
wonderful things in God’s teaching to us. In fact,
they are so wonderful that when you really see them,
they change you profoundly and empower holiness
and love. Which is why reading, knowing and
meditating on the word of God is so crucial.

2. No one can see these wonderful things for what they

really are without God’s supernatural help. “Open
my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from
your law.” If God does not open our eyes, we will not
see the wonder of the word. We are not naturally
able to see spiritual beauty. When we read the Bible
without the help of God, the glory of God in the
teachings and events of the Bible is like the sun
shining in the face of a blind man. Not that you can’t
construe its surface meaning, but you can’t see the

5
wonder, the beauty, the glory of it such that it wins
your heart.

3. We must pray to God for supernatural illumination

when we read the Bible. “Open my eyes, that I may
behold wonderful things from your law.” Since we
are helpless in ourselves to see spiritual beauty and
the wonder of God in the teachings and events of
the Bible without God’s gracious illumination, we
should ask him for it. “Open my eyes.”

My prayer for you is that as you read this book,

may your eyes be opened in Jesus name. May you
receive the ability to understand all that you will
be reading in Jesus name. Amen

6
Imagination

Imagination is the faculty or action of forming new

ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not
present to the senses. Contrary to popular belief,
imagination is a God given ability. Through imagination
things are created.
Albert Einstein said, “Your imagination is your preview
of life’s coming attractions.” And in the 1950s, author
Napoleon Hill wrote, “The imagination is literally the
workshop wherein are fashioned all plans created by
man.”

Truly, everything that has been created by mankind:

skyscrapers, skis, cars, computers, buildings, boulevards,
coffee cups, cotton balls and even things immaterial such
as concepts and philosophies all began in the mind of
someone before they became reality.

Indeed, God is the Creator and He has blessed us with

minds to create, too, through the power of imagination.

Don’t get me wrong; I don’t believe that we can

7
manipulate our lives through thought to the point that
we can become our own God and make anything happen
that we want. Thankfully, God is far too sovereign for
that! Instead, imagination is a tool whereby we
cooperate with Him to participate in His divine nature
and fulfill our God-given purpose.

Contrary to popular belief, imagination is a gift from

God, embedded in our minds. Imagination is the one
gift that gives us the ability to dream, create and to hope.
It is filled with endless possibilities. As a child I always
had a wild imagination. I remember taking time out to
imagine how I would be in different careers of life. How
would I be as a doctor? How would life turn out for me if
I was to be a policeman? Would I be an exceptional
accountant? This was how I imagined the future to be
like as a 10 year old. But guess what, never in my wildest
dreams or imaginations did I ever think I would become
a prophet one day.

Imagination has an enemy though, and the number one

enemy is not the devil, but it is reality. No one would
ever think reality can be an enemy to imagination.
Imagination can cause you to travel to places and realms

8
where we have never set foot before. We can excess
lifestyles that we have no idea how to get there or even
maintain. All of that is short lived though, because when
reality kicks in, you have to go back to living the life that
you hate so much, filled with so much pain and betrayal.
Imagining yourself a millionaire and coming back to the
reality that you’re broke and in debt is a hard fall. Reality
can create doubt, but don’t let it ever stop you from
believing that it is possible to live the life you want.

Although imagination is a God given gift, it needs to be

powered, it needs something to motivate it. By now you
might be wondering how you can fuel your imagination
so that your excitement, inspiration and courage grow.
There are many ways, but the main thing to remember is
that imagination is often fuelled through input that
comes through suggestions from outside sources.

Two years ago as I was at a coffee shop and a guy came

up to me and asked me how I think life would be if there
was no water on earth and I though,”that would be a
huge devastation.” I replied to him a different answer
though and our conversation turned to something else. A
few weeks later while in the shower, the same question
popped up in my mind again. As I engaged in though
and imagination over it, I thought deeply and saw that
9
without water, there cannot be any life. Instead of my
usual 15 minute shower(don’t judge me), I took roughly 6
minutes this time. I felt that a probably made a
difference in saving some water. The brief image the man
painted of earth without water stuck with me, and over
the next week, my mind chewed on it while I took a
shower. Now two years later it has become a lesson on
the power of imagination. What you’re surrounded by
fuels your imagination.

Which programs do you watch? What do you constantly

meditate upon? Fuel your mind with positivity and see
your mind change.

10
WHAT IF?

As you pursue your God-given purpose, there will be

plenty of problems to solve. As believers we are not
immune to spiritual, physical and emotional attacks. On
a daily basis we face challenges that we sometimes think
will never come to an end. Most people give up when
challenges come their way just like the seeds that were
sowed on rocky ground, where they had no much soil;
and at once they sprang up. But because they had no
depth of soil, when the sun came out they were
scorched, dried up and withered away. Jesus described
such people as those who gladly received the Word, yet
the Word has no real root in them but is temporary;
when affliction comes on account of the Word, at once
that stumble and fall. ( Matthew 13:1-9 , 20-23).

The gift of imagination is a gift that holds solutions. So

if you’re going through some challenges in your life, use
this gift so you may have endless possibilities. It turns
out that when we imagine things, the brain attempts to
simulate the response that would occur if these
situations actually happened. This is the same neural
process that enables us to be empathic,

11
put ourselves in someone else’s shoes, and understand
their mental state. But we also use this process to better
understand ourselves.

In our minds, we can play out future scenarios to predict

how we would personally think, feel, and respond to
them. And by doing so, we experience thoughts and
emotions similar to those that would occur if the
situations were actually happening to us right now. If
you’re going through something right now, then what
I’m about to say will help you big time.

To effectively tackle some of the things you’re going

through, you can use the following principles:

• First, pray and ask God to give you direction to do

His will.
• Second, define the problem.
• Third, make a “What if ?” list.
• Then, allow your thoughts to chew on the problem
for a period of time.
• And don’t forget to expose yourself to situations in
which your mind is relaxed or “at play.”

If you know when you are the most creative, such as

12
taking a walk or reading a book, make arrangements for
these situations to happen. And most importantly, have a
pen and paper handy for quick note taking. Before you
know it, God will have given you ideas on how to
proceed through His gift of imagination.

There’s no doubt that God gave us an amazing gift when

He gave us this gift. I encourage you to ask Him to help
you make the most of it to fulfil the purpose He has for
your life!

13
Can imagination be bad?
God has no problem with us exercising the gift he gave
us. In Genesis 11, the children of the world were all one
in mind and spirit that they created a tower that would
reach up to heaven. God never had a problem with the
tower that was made, he only had one problem; they
wanted to build the tower so that they wouldn’t be
scattered all over the face of the earth.

Genesis 11

Now the whole world had one language and a common

speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[a] they found a
plain in Shinar and settled there.3 They said to each
other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them
thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for
mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a
city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we
may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be
scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

Many preachers who have taught on this passage have

always mentioned how these people had pride and that
they wanted to make a name for themselves; that is why
`God came down and confused their language. I beg to
14
differ. God had no problem with them trying to make a
name for themselves, God one problem, they were
working against a prophetic promise that God gave to
Noah. God spoke to Noah to fill the earth and few years
later, the children of the world, coming from Hem,Shem
and Japheth. Their language was confused so that the
prophetic Word could be fulfilled.

Can imagination be bad? Certainly! There are people

who imagine the world without black people. There are
people who imagine the world without Christians. Some
imagine the world with zombies and aliens. The truth is,
there are no restrictions as to how this gift can be used.
Jesus taught that if any man looks at a woman lustfully,
he has already committed adultery in his mind. That is
imagination! As long as you use this gift in the confines
of the Holy Spirit, you’re good to go. Be scrupulous with
your thoughts and what feeds your imagination.

15
Dreams Vs Visions
Before we go anywhere, we have to differentiate dreams
and visions. We often dream when we are asleep, in
actual fact we dream when we are in deep sleep. Scientist
believe that the dreams we remember most are the ones
we have just before we wake up. Come to think of it,
that’s about as far as I can remember in terms of all the
dreams I’ve had, I only remember the ones I have right
before I wake up. It is possible however to forget some
dreams that you have before you wake up. If you know
you had a dream at night but struggling to remember the
dream, well it’s not all lost, there is a way I found to
recover unfinished and forgotten dreams; that is thought
meditation.

Visions take place while we’re awake and are normally

short and brief. Visions can also take place when we’re
having a “power nap”. You were watching TV and all of a
sudden you are somewhat sleeping but only for 2
minutes and you see series of events unfolding in your
power nap.

Both dreams and visions bring a message from God.

They are messages filled with direction, warning and
answers to prayers. There is no doubt that when we
16
dream we can have that feeling that it is real. The reason
for this is because you can wake up having the same
feeling you had in the dream, happy, sad, angry or even
afraid. The reason it feels real is because I believe God
wants to get our attention and dreams are definitely by
far the best way.

If we don’t pay attention to our dreams and visions, it’s

like we are not paying attention to the Lords message.

Why should God communicate with us through dreams?

It is because we sometimes get too busy during the day
that we cannot recognise His voice or signs and wonders.
So God uses dreams to reach out to us. Taken from
Interpretation Tools book.

There is a possibility to have a dream in a dream or to

have a vision in a dream. These are some special and
unique events that take place in the dream world. I once
had a dream in a dream. Having a dream within a dream
is an interesting way for your subconscious or
unconscious mind to relay certain information to you, or
represent something to you the dreamer. If you go to
sleep in your dream and have a dream, it might be a way
for your subconscious to change the time-frame or
17
context of the original dream. It may harken back to a
previous situation or a glimpse of a later situation within
the original dream. This type is called ‘false awakening’.
If you have ever had a false awakening, let me know, I
would love to hear of it. Some have had beautiful
moments while others have had some horrifying
experiences in these dreams.

18
Types of Visions
‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on
all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your
young men will see visions, your old men will dream
dreams.’ (Acts 2:17)

The Spirit of God has already been released to us, we are

not waiting for someone who is yet to come. The person
of the Holy Spirit is already here; through the Spirit we
are supposed to prophesy, see visions and dream dreams.
Isn’t this amazing? God actually wants us to see! What is
it really about seeing? I believe that God wants you and I
to see the way He sees.

When we see what the Father sees, we can now have full
understanding of His will and purpose for us. In the Old
Testament, many prophets had the Spirit come upon
them, but now we have the Spirit in us. Mark the word
in; this word will be very crucial to understand what I’m
about to teach you.

His(Jesus) method for fulfilling this plan is by the power

of His Spirit, who resides in us after we are born again.
Jesus said to Nicodemus, "I tell you the truth, no one
can see the kingdom of God unless he is born
19
again'" (John 3:3). To say it another way, if a person is
born again, he can see the kingdom of God. As a child of
God, the kingdom of God should not be some spiritual
place that is far away from us. The Kingdom of God is

here with us; as Kingdom representatives, we ought to

perceive what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to the
church.

The person whom the Spirit of God indwells has the

spiritual ability to see. And seeing spirit-truth changes
one's perception of material facts.

Jesus suggested to Nicodemus that the Spirit is like the

wind. You don't know where it comes from or where it's
going. You know wind only because of its effects. Like
the wind, spirit is invisible. A person cannot see it move
or work. However, one can see the effect of what the
Spirit does. One can see how it acts on things—just as
the wind going through a tree full of leaves. One cannot
see the wind, but everyone has seen how it makes the
tree's leaves and the branches sway. Some have perhaps
witnessed a strong wind knock a nest out of a tree or rip
leaves or branches off a tree, but not the wind itself. It is
the same with the Spirit. The Spirit moves, and we then
20
can see people react. The people do things. A work gets
done. What we see is not the Spirit itself, but the Spirit’s
fruit.

The first time I went to a charismatic church I was

shocked. When the preacher began his ministration of
praying for the sick and casting out of demons; some
people were falling with no one touching or even
pushing them down. Some were reacting as if they had
been electrocuted. I’ve never been so afraid in church
like that day. I went home thanking God that I wasn’t
electrocuted. I bet you’re laughing right now, but it
wasn’t a laughing matter for me that day. A few months
later, I got to understand some ways that the Spirit will
move in the church. Some actually think the Holy Spirit
can never cause people to fall down or act out of their
own will as a form of ‘demonstration of power’ or
‘deliverance’. If Jesus likens the Spirit to the wind, then it
makes sense to me that sometimes when the wind
moves, leaves fall down. However, we all react differently
to the move of the Spirit.

Suppose, then, that a person decides he does not believe

in the wind. This person will come to some strange
conclusions about what is true. For example, he will
conclude that trees lean over all by themselves
21
sometimes; or that leaves lying quietly on the ground
sometimes jump up and twirl through the air. I can just
imagine a tree bending by itself, oh boy, I would never sit
under a tree anymore. I mean, that would be a little bit
creepy to see. This person would come to the conclusion
that leaves jump up by some other power, maybe
witchcraft even.

The person will ascribe power where there is no power.

He will not understand that the trees and the leaves are
responding to the power of the wind that is acting on
them. If a person who does not believe in the wind and a
person who believes in and understands the wind look at
the same scene, they will see two startlingly different
truths.

The first will see trees bending over, the second will
acknowledge the wind. Likewise, the person who learns
to observe with spirit-eyes will look at earth and see as
God sees, not as the world sees.

22
The first level
A vision usually occurs as a simple picture (or
moving picture) coming to mind—the Holy
Spirit’s fleeting imprint upon our imagination.

I want us to examine and go further on the phrase

mentioned above as I believe it holds some hidden
truths that we have not yet explored in the prophetic
ministry. “For truly I tell you, many prophets and
righteous people longed to see what you see but did not
see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it,”
said Jesus( Matthew 13:17) . For a number of years I have
been spiritually frustrated by some of the things that
have been taking place in the body of Christ, and I’m
glad that God is making a way for us to reach out to
thousands on a daily basis to get the right message across
the globe. You’re probably asking yourself, “what could it
be that frustrates the prophet so much?” Honestly, I’m
fed up because most spiritual mentors are limiting and
sitting on peoples gifts. Many of those whom God has
chosen and given a platform to be a blessing to the body
of Christ think that they will be there forever. I’ve seen
people go into churches with a great zeal for God and
with a calling to be a blessing to thousands, but end up
23
being an usher forever. It hurts me to see people who
have been called by God end up doing things they were
not called for in the name of mentorship and serving.
Mentorship is about recognising, raising and releasing.
Many of those who are called have never reached the
point of being chosen because they have now become
spiritual slaves. I hope and pray that you don’t fall into
the trap of pastors trying to grow their churches; luring
people through the enticement of mentorship. If you’re
in a place where there is no growth, you’re free to leave!
This is the time for you to grow and discover your
calling. There is no time to be stuck captive when you
can be at a place where you’ll be fulfilling your purpose.
Pardon my digression, I just want you to be at a place
where you can enjoy your spiritual life. If there is one
word that could best describe the spiritual life of most
people, I think that word would be ‘frustrated’. When
it comes to our relationship with God, most of us feel we
don’t measure up. We feel we don’t live well enough,
know enough, and aren’t doing enough. You’re probably
reading this book and you feel spiritually frustrated. The
only cure to spiritual frustration is spiritual growth and I
hope we can achieve that through this book.

24
There are visions that we see from within and this type I
classify them as being in the first level. By now I’m
pretty sure you have an idea about imagination, you’ve
probably been imagining things way before you even
came to Christ. Our lives revolve around our thoughts,
what we think will eventually be how we live. Do you
remember how I told you to mark the word in a few
moments ago? The reason for that is because it is
important for you to understand the work of the Holy
Spirit in you first than outside of you. Some of us think,
“If Jesus were here on earth, and we could see Him, we
would follow Him anywhere.” But in Ezekiel 36:26-27,
the Lord says, “I will put my Spirit within you and cause
you to walk in my ways.” There is something about that
word “within.” “I will put My Spirit within you.” There
was a time when I needed to be reminded His Spirit was
within me. I remember reading that, and for days I
walked around thinking, “His Spirit is within me!” Christ
is in me by His Spirit today as surely as He was with the
disciples. It is amazing to realise that His Spirit lives
within us. When we go to church, our attention is always
about the manifestation of the Holy Spirit outside of us
than within. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says, “Do you not know
your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” Andrew
Murray, in his book The Spirit of Christ, elaborated on
25
this in a way that was very helpful to me. He said in the
Jewish temple there were three courts: the outer court,
the inner court, and the Holy of holies. Murray
described how our bodies are like the outer court. The
inner court is like our mind, our will and our emotions.
But inside of us is the Holy of holies where the Spirit of
God dwells. The Holy Spirit dwells inside our spirit. So
inside you and inside me is the Holy of holies. The Holy
of holies is in you. Verse 17 of that chapter says, “The
temple of God is holy, and that temple

is what you are.” That will help your self-image to know

the Holy of holies is in you and in me.

Since the Holy Spirit lives in us, our attention should not
only be on what He can do on the outside, but also more
on what He is doing in us. The first level of seeing is not
from the outside, but it is from within. How it actually
works is that the Holy Spirit uses what you already have
in you, and that is imagination. Your imagination
becomes the platform that the Holy Spirit can build on.
In this level the Holy Spirit will use your imagination to
show you things in the Spirit realm.

26
Being in this level can be frustrating most of the times,
especially for those in pursuit of the supernatural and
revelation God. Ordinary Christians are not bothered
whether they see or understand the message God tries to
communicate with them through their imagination, or
rather they thoughts maybe. It is only when you realise
that God uses this channel to speak or show you things
that you suddenly take interest. Until you master this
level, you’re always going to be stuck with one question,
how do I know that out is God showing me something
and not my own thoughts or imagination? I’m pretty
sure from the moment you started reading about this,
you had this question come to your mind. I’m going it
break down for you. Although it has taken me a number
of years to master this, I believe that you are able to do
so within a few months or less.

I have seen a lot of people teach about how to hear the

voice of God and how to differentiate between the voice
of God and that of the devil. But there are very few or
no teachings at all about seeing. You know why?
Contrary to popular belief, many people are afraid of the
supernatural realm; we preach about it yes, but when it
manifests, preaches are confused whether it’s God or

27
not. Many people have the ability to hear, but very few
are seers.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your

ways my ways," declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8
This verse already gives a brief description of what to
expect from God. If I’m to accept His thoughts as mine,
I have to be willing to open up to the reality that the
thoughts of God will not always be as simple as mine.
God is way more than ordinary, He is preternatural.
Before I can learn to fathom His thoughts, I have to first
familiarise myself with his He thinks; what better way to
know His thoughts than to go to the Bible. I believe the
Bible gives us a brief description if His thoughts, not
everything. His thoughts are to high to be contained in a
small book like the Bible. That is why we have what I
call “ revelational knowledge”. These are messages that
were once hidden or never even heard of. When you
make a decision to yield your thoughts to God, expect
some revelation knowledge, these are things not heard of
or seen before.

Below are some of God’s thoughts for us:

• You are my beloved child. I died for you.

28
• You do not need to do anything to please me. I love
you already.
• Trust in me. I will give you strength.
• Believe in me, I want to lead you.
• You are mine forever.
• There is no sin so serious that I have not forgiven
you.
• All things will work for your good.
• My plans for you are good.

Does this mean that the voice of the Holy Spirit always
makes us feel good? No! Sometimes we sin and in those
times, the voice of God will bring discipline and
correction. The first step is to familiarise yourself to His
thoughts and secondly, yield your imagination to Him.
Pray and yield your imagination to the Holy Spirit.
Consider your imagination to be a canvas that the Holy
Spirit can paint upon. Habakkuk says, ‘I will stand at my
watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to
see what he will say to me…’ (Habakuk 2:1)

If you are not used to this, here are some practical

exercises that can help you to activate your imagination
and grow your gift of prophetic vision:

29
• Read or listen to Scripture and picture the stories in
your minds eye. Imagine them as a movie—where
are you in the scene? This helps train the mind and
for you to see what was try to show us in His word.
• Picture yourself operating in the future call and
destiny of God upon your life. Ask the Holy Spirit
to help you and show you the Father’s purposes.
Hold onto these visions lightly—you can only dream
according to what God has revealed to you to date.
More will unfold in times to come.
• Picture yourself in immediate commitments or
challenges that you have, operating in the anointing
of the Spirit and in intimacy with God.
• Wait on God with your eyes closed during times of
reflection and worship. Be expectant to see what the
Holy Spirit may show you.
• When you are praying for or with others, pause in
God’s Presence to see if He has anything to show
you.

Remember that His thoughts are not like ours. What

I’m teaching you is somethings you can do to activate or
recognise what God is showing you. Training your mind
in this level is not an overnight thing, but overtime. Try
these following tips that you have just learned about,
30
should you still be having some challenges a month from
now, feel free to reach out at any given moment. Allow
your mind and your Spirit to be open to receive from
God.

31
Second level

A vision that occurs outside of our imagination, is

called an open vision.

An open vision is different from an inner vision. What is

been revealed is shown to you like a screen placed in
front of you, you’re seeing it in front of you. It seems as
though what is shown to you is placed in front of you. At
times, it looks as though the vision is projected in front
of you. Let me explain: when a man has an open vision of
an angel like in Acts 10, he will see the angel in relation
to his own physical surrounding so his natural senses are
not suspended, he is aware of where he is but still sees
into the spirit realm.

John, in the book of Revelation, had one of the most

prolific encounters with open visions. He had a
combination of an open vision and divine visitation. For
now, let's just look at the open vision components. In the
fourth chapter, John heard a voice speak to him and was
called up into the heavenly realm. He said, "At once I
was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in
Heaven..." (verse 2). From this we assume that his
32
physical body was not transported up into Heaven, but
John's essence (his soul and spirit) was taken up "in the
Spirit”, into the heavenly place . John had entered into
the vision. In this vision, John saw and heard many
things. Some were literal, but a lot of them were
symbolic. For instance, Jesus appeared as a Lamb in
Revelation 5:6. We know that Jesus is not physically a
lamb, He is a man (as well as being fully God). But in this
vision, the role Jesus had performed as God's perfect
Passover lamb was represented in the appearance of a
lamb. And John heard people worship Jesus, calling Him
the "Lamb" (Revelation 5:12-13) and ascribe all glory and
honor to Him. John watched a lot of things in this
vision, as an "observer."

There are open visions you will have that you cannot do
anything about, you cannot change how it is presented
to you or how the outcome will be. We simply observe
what we see and pray about it. There aren’t a lot of
people who operate in this dimension because of what
most of eyes have been exposed to. To operate in open
visions is not by choice, but by God’s grace and favor.

Two weeks ago I went to pray with one of my cousins.

She had invited my wife and I to her home as she had
33
been going through some spiritual attacks. She has a 6
year old son that had been seeing demons running
around the house almost on a daily basis. Before any
spiritual attack would take place, her son would always
tell her that he sees a man in the house wearing black
with no head; or that he sees a child running around the
house. The boy knows nothing about the spiritual realm,
open visions or about the gifts of the Spirit, but his eyes
are open. You may ask, “but why are his eyes open at
such a young age?’’ I believe it is mostly for his moms
protection. There is nothing worse that fighting
something that you cannot see. I have prayed for my
cousins son before, but not for his eyes to be open in the
Spirit.

My niece, 4 years old, we call her Annie, every time she

comes to visit by our house, she always says, “Uncle
Hope, I see Jesus standing over there.” I’m always
amazed. Annie on the other hand, we always pray with.
Is it because of prayer? Is it faith, or it is pure grace?
After I received Jesus into my life at age 16, I had my
first open vision 2 years later. I was constantly fasting
and praying to see in the Spirit. My first open vision was
of an angel; beautiful and golden. The angel stood next
to my bed and said nothing. I was startled with my eyes
34
wide open, I couldn’t move or say a word. As soon as I
was out of the open vision, I immediately got into prayer
for the angel to come back. So I have come to the
conclusion that open visions comes to those that God
chooses to show things to. There is hope though, cause
you can be prayed for.
2 Kings 6:8-23 we find the story of Elisha and Gehazi.
Elisha and his servant were surrounded by a foreign army
that intended to take him captive. Elisha’s servant went
out one morning, looked up and saw this horde of
soldiers, with horses and chariots. He rightly surmised
they weren’t paying a social call! So he ran back inside
crying, “Alas! What are we going to do?”

Probably none of us has ever walked out the door in the

morning to confront an armed barbarian horde in the
front yard waiting to do us bodily harm. But we all know
what it’s like to be suddenly confronted with life-
threatening problems beyond our control. And we all can
relate to the servant’s panic in the crisis. What seems
strange is Elisha’s cool, calm response: “Do not fear, for
those who are with us are more than those who are with
them” ( 2 Kings 6:16). Then he prayed that his servant’s
eyes would be opened. Suddenly the Gehazi saw the
unseen spiritual world that Elisha already saw. The
35
mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all
around Elisha! He strolled out to greet the soldiers,
calmly asked God to strike them blind, led them to the
capital city 12 miles south, where they were then
surrounded by Israel’s army, and then asked God to
restore their sight. He then directed the Israelite king to
feed them and send them on their way. And, for a while,
the Arameans did not bother Israel.

And Elisha prayed, "Open his eyes, LORD, so that he

may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes,
and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and
chariots of fire all around Elisha.(2 Kings 6:17)

The scripture above is probably one of the most

important scriptures when it comes to being prayed for
by someone else for your eyes to be opened. The most
important thing to note here is that Elisha asked God to
open the eyes of Gehazi. If a man opens your eyes, you
will see what man wants you to see, but if God does it,
you will see what God wants you to see. God opened
Gehazi’s eyes. Should someone pray for you for the
opening of eyes, always remember that God is the one
that actually does it. The next verse we are about to look
into actually shows that the opposite is true.
36
As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to
the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck
them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. (2 kings 6:18)

It is highly possible to pray for peoples eyes to be open

and to also pray for other peoples eyes to be closed
(spiritual blindness). I don’t want to get into spiritual
blindness at the moment because this function has been
abused a lot in the church. I have seen people who are
gifted being afraid of leaving certain churches or
spiritual coverings because of the fear of being locked. I
always thought many young people just refuse to submit,
I came to the conclusion that their pride is the reason
for that. Turns out I was partially wrong, some do want
to serve somewhere, but they’re afraid of being
controlled and manipulated. There’s been a lot of
manipulation in the body of Christ by those in season; I
call them spiritual bullies. I think I just found a title for
my next book, Spiritual Bullies. I pray that God can
open your eyes, because if God does it, no man can close
them. May God send you to the right place where you
can serve and grow spiritually, in Jesus name. Amen

37
Lets go back to John in the book of Revelation. There is
something else that John experienced in some of his
open visions that I want us to focus on for a moment.
John interacted with the vision at different times. Going
through the encounters John had with Angels was an eye
opener for me about supernatural encounters. For
instance in Revelation 10, John was instructed to take a
book from the Angel's hand and eat it. Ezekiel had a
similar encounter. “Son of man,” He said to me. “Eat and
fill your stomach with this scroll that I am giving
you.” (Ezekiel 3:3) This is definitely interaction as
opposed to straight observation. John asked the angel for
the book (Revelation 10:9) and the angel gave John the
book. He ate it, as he was instructed to do so.

Here we see that the sense of touch and the sense of

taste were in operation. John said, "Then I took the little
book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and it was as
sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it,
my stomach became bitter." (Rev 10:10) In other words,
it gave John an upset stomach. In Chapter 11, John was
given a measuring rod and was told to measure the
temple and alter of God. From John's perspective, he was
not watching a vision like a person might watch a movie,

38
but John was transported into the vision and he was
living it. And that is what an open vision is like.

You cannot control whether or not you will have an open

vision. This is something the Lord initiates. At times
open visions will be very literal, but at other times
objects in open visions that will be symbolic. However,
when God uses symbolic objects in an open vision, the
person experiencing the vision usually seems to know
what they represent.

Every open vision has its own mood and intensity.

Somethings will make you happy while some grieve you.
Always pray for God’s strength and wisdom to be with
you in this level. You won’t see the good things.
Sometimes you will see things that will break your heart.
So the intensity of an open vision may vary. Some open
visions totally replace your physical surroundings and
other open visions are very faint, perhaps impressions
and pictures superimposed over your natural
surroundings. Just as there is a great deal of variety in
how the Lord shows a "seer" pictures and images, there
can be a great deal of variety in how the Lord gives an
individual an open vision.

39
Third level

Trance, the doorway to a new realm.

Trances are like dreaming when you are awake. Instead

of just seeing a "screen" you feel like you are in the
movie, that you are actually there in a strange way.
Whenever you pursue the grace to see in the Spirit, keep
in mind that you might sooner or later get into a trance.

He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew

the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of
the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes
open.(Numbers 24:16)

A trance is a doorway to the supernatural realm. When

someone falls into a trance, they lose consciousness of
their surroundings as they have now been transported to
a different world. Being in a trance does not necessarily
mean that you go somewhere with your physical body.
You can have a trance while in the same place but a
different setting, but you are not aware of that. At the
same time it is important to note that it is not
impossible for your physical body to be transported
somewhere. According to anthropologist Vincent
40
Crapanzano, human beings are capable of more than 35
different states of consciousness (or levels of awareness).
These include road trance (arriving at a destination but
not recalling how one drove to get there), daydreaming,
ecstasy, hallucinations, visions, sky journeys, and many
others. Trances are given different names in different
places of study but are all similar.

Road trance has happened to me so many times and it

scares me. I have never had the courage to speak or write
about it because I thought I wasn’t paying enough
attention while driving. Think about it just gives me
goosebumps. One moment I would be driving and
suddenly I would come back to my senses 5 kilometres
later and think to myself “ how did I get here so fast?”
Someone else might think that I am crazy or not
attentive enough but I know how I am. Im very careful
when it comes to driving. So I went straight to the Word
of God to see if there was anything that could confirm or
explain my experiences.

In John chapter 6:16–21, when Jesus got into the boat

after He walked on water, immediately the boat reached
the shore where they were heading. Look at the
following verse:
41
But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” Then they
were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately
the boat reached the shore where they were heading
(John6:20-21). The word translated “immediately” does
not have to mean “instantly.” It could just mean “very
quickly.” Whatever the case, after Jesus got into the
boat, it either was teleported to the shore or was in some
other way brought to shore very rapidly. Either way, this
amazing miracle is often overlooked.
I might be confirmation bias, but I believe that
something supernatural took place there. I think that
Jesus had already taught them the lesson that they
needed to learn and didn’t want to waste in more time at
sea. I mean, he walked on water, making the boat to
suddenly be at shore is not impossible either.

Another example is found in Acts 8:26-40. Philip, being

instructed by an angel and the Holy Spirit was told to go
south to the road that runs from Jerusalem down to
Gaza. Philip was sent to go help an Ethiopian eunuch
who was reading the book of Isaiah, but did not
understand. Philip explained the scrolls and brought the
eunuch to the faith of Jesus Christ. After the eunuch was
baptized, “the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip
away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on
42
his way rejoicing. Philip, however, appeared at
Azotus” (verses 39–40). Again, I might be confirmation
bias but I believe this is similar to road trance. Should
you ever experience such a level in Christ, you will soon
realise that you have to keep most of the things to
yourself. Religious people would never believe that you
could travel in the spirit and also in a flesh. God is
omnipotent and omnipresent. He is able to do ALL
things!

The reason I believe you might have to keep many

things to yourself is because there is too much jealousy
in church. Back in 2016 there was a guy who always used
to ask me questions about what I’m doing to be where I
am spiritually. “Hope,” he called me. “Whats the longest
number of hours you have prayed?” I told him that the
longest I have prayed was 5 hours. The look on his face
changed, he was angry and confused of the answer I just
gave him. “Whats wrong?” I asked him. “ I have been
praying 7 hours a day for the past 40 days but I have
never heard or seen half of the things you hear or the
things you see. There must be something else that you
are doing to have these encounters, maybe it’s not even
godly things.” He said. At that moment I felt really bad.
This was because I never prayed for these encounters I
43
was having from God. I felt like I don’t deserve this
grace from God because I wasn’t putting enough effort
like some prayer warriors and fasting machines. One
thing that I have learnt with God is that he is not a
respecter of persons. God looks at your motive behind
the prayer and desire.

I went home that night feeling sad and undeserving.

First thing I did when I go home was to pray. The Holy
Spirit declared a world that I still hold on to even today.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the
word of the LORD unto Hope Khoza, saying, Not by
might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD
of hosts( Zachariah 4:6). Did you notice the ‘Hope
Khoza' instead of ‘Zerubbabel’? On that day I
personalised that Word, it felt different with my name
on it and trust me I was strengthened. The devil will try
to frighten us and distract us. You will go through a lot of
spiritual battles as long as you are gifted. The devil
knows that if he can discourage us, then we are useless
for God’s kingdom. Discouragement shackles our vision
to do something for the Lord. It hinders us. And notice
that the devil uses the same tactics, fear. He will frighten
us with lack of faith, and unbelief. He knows that fear
will control us and shackle us. But praise God 2 Timothy
44
1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear is not
from God. Never allow anyone to make you feel bad over
what God has favoured you with.

45
5 ways to grow your seer anointing

1. Desire to See What the Father is doing

“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself;
he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because
whatever the Father does the Son also does.” (John 5:19)

Firstly ask, ‘What is my motivation for wanting to see in

the spiritual realm?’ Your motivation for prophetic vision
should be that of Jesus—the desire to see what your
Father is doing and to know what is on God’s heart. This
is not only the highest use of prophetic vision; it is also a
guard against deception. Don’t desire to see so that you
can help people or tell people whats happening in their
lives, no.

First have a desire to see what God wants to show you,

the more you grow spiritually, the more responsibility
you will be given. I received Jesus into my heart not
because He promised to use me in the prophetic or to
open my eyes; I accepted Him to be my Lord and
saviour because He loved me first. Don’t let the sheep
distract you, learn from the Shepherd first before
46
anything else. Being gifted is one thing, but being called,
chosen and sent to go help people is another. Gods time
is the perfect time, wait for His instruction on what you
see.

2. Keep a Record of What you See

Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets

so that a herald may run with it. (Habakuk 2:3)

Take notes of what you see, so that you can reflect on

what God is showing you and keep it for future
reference.
Journaling is a good way to record prophetic pictures and
visions, but your method can be as simple as jotting
down a few notes on your phone or any handy device.
How can God use you as a trusted voice or seer if you
never remember what He shows you? This is why it is
very important to write down everything that God
shows you. I have written words from 2014, some of
them came to pass and some are yet to come to pass.
This is important for your records and to monitor your
spiritual growth.

47
I have seen throughout the years that God has trusted
me with prophetic insight that is way bigger than me. I
appreciate every experience then and I appreciate every
experience now.

3. Guard What You Look at

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile.

(Psalms 101:3)
It is vital that you set aside your vision and imagination
for the use of the Holy Spirit by guarding what you
choose to watch (this includes Internet, TV and movies).

As the Apostle Paul says, ‘‘In a large house there are

articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and
clay; some are for special purposes and some for
common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the
latter [turning from wickedness, will be instruments for
special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and
prepared to do any good work.’’ (2 Timothy 2:20-21)

What type of vessel are you? Are you special or you just
an ordinary believer? If you know you’re different, don’t
be afraid to segregate yourself from the norms of this
world. What are you willing to let go of so that you can
48
start seeing the manifestation of God’s power in your
life? The answer to these few questions may just be the
breaking point for you. For about 14 months between
2018-2019 period my wife and I had no TV. We gave
away everything that could be a distraction to us. In our
first year of marriage we promised ourselves to seek the
face of God like never before. It was the best decision
we ever made for our spiritual growth and relationship.
You still think it’s just about prayer? Trust me, it’s way
more than that. The next point is probably one of the
most important.

4. Develop your ability to Interpretation

‘The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see,

Jeremiah?” “I see the branch of an almond tree,” I
replied. The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly,
for I am watching to see that my word is
fulfilled.” (Jeremiah 1:11-12)

Learn to distinguish between revelation that is plain,

requiring no interpretation, and that which is symbolic.
In the Bible, God frequently uses symbols and
metaphors in prophetic vision. These require
49
interpretation to explain their meaning. Sometimes the
Holy Spirit does not give an immediate interpretation
and invites us to go on a journey of discovery with Him
as to the full meaning of a vision. I wrote a book called
Interpretation Tools that can be really helpful to your
interpretation journey. When God shows us something,
He expects us to understand. When He speaks a
seasonal word, He expects us to hear Him.

“For God does speak--now one way, now another-though

no one perceives it. In a dream, in a vision of the night,
when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their
beds,’’(Job 33:14-15)

God is always saying something. Are you ready to align

yourself so that you can hear and see?

5. Operate with Love and Wisdom in Prophetic

Visions

Love people in the use of your gift—practice sharing

sensitively and in a positive and encouraging way. If you
don’t yet have clarity on the meaning of a picture, and it
may be confusing, hold back and pray further. Use

50
wisdom in the timing and manner that you share a
picture.

Nothing frustrates me more that rude people in the

prophetic. I have seen some appalling behaviour on the
pulpit all in the name of ‘touch not my anointed.’ The
anointing of God does not come with good behaviour. If
someone does not have a change of heart as soon as they
receive Christ, it is most likely that they might never
change in character. Always keep in mind that your
spiritual function is no substitute for bad character. As
we develop our gifts, let us also develop love and
compassion. Jesus’ ministry will filled with compassion
for the people. Most churches are in for the money and
not to take care of God’s people.

If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do

not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging
cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom
all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that
can move mountains, but do not have love, I am
nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over
my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not
have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It
51
does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not
easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does
not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always
protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (
1 Corinthians 13:1-7)

6.Work harder than your mentor

The first thing here is to actually find a good mentor that you
can relate to. Finding a mentor becomes crucial because you
need someone to be accountable to so that you may never
divert from the calling God. It is very easy to miss the mark, so
mentorship is important for accountability and growth. The
best way to find a mentor is to check the spiritual DNA. Don’t
serve under someone you have no similarities to. Look for
someone that you can relate to both spiritually and physically.
It’s not about how famous the person is, but about the
relationship you wish to develop. Many people today don’t
want mentorship; they just want a shoulder to climb in so they
can shine better.

Should you find a mentor, please don’t waste your mentor’s

time. Show up with well prepared and ready to learn. Be ready
to ask relevant questions, and always remember to take notes.
Always push yourself to work hard to practice what was
discussed, and the next time you talk, tell him or her what you
have done. There's nothing more encouraging than having a
52
mentee who is willing to learn. A good mentor will always have
some questions and good advice, but the mentoring is more
your job than his/hers. You are the one who sets the agenda.
Your speed of growth determines how fast and far we go. If
your mentor asks you to do something, make the necessary
adjustments, but do it. If where you are does not work for you,
that’s OK, end the mentoring relationship with respect and
gratitude. There is no need for you to be at a place where you
don’t grow . But always make sure that it’s not you who is the
problem before you go. Some people left good mentors
because they didn’t grow, but the mentor was never the
problem in the first place.
