Cetamine boiler water treatment
performance specification
Details
Thermal Impact Group are a Northern Ireland-based water treatment company who are the sole All-
Ireland distributors for Kurita Europe, who manufacture, research and develop advanced water
treatment products and systems throughout the world. Amongst these products is the Cetamine
range of boiler water treatment chemicals.
Thermal Impact Group are also the only stockist of Cetamine products in All-Ireland.
The unique combination of benefits offered by Cetamine (corrosion protection, thermal efficiency
improvements, scale formation-inhibition and blowdown reduction) are to our knowledge not
offered by any other individual treatment system.
Thermal Impact Group personnel have been involved in industrial water treatment for over 15 years
in which time we have serviced a wide customer-base in sectors which include Food, Manufacturing,
Pharmaceutical and NHS.
Products
The Cetamine range of products is primarily aimed at the treatment of steam boilers and offers
significant advantages over traditional treatments in terms of energy efficiency improvements,
reduction in corrosion-related problems and simplified handling and application procedures.
Cetamine products are compatible with all steam systems, and there are also FDA-compliant
products which are particularly suitable for food and hospital applications.
Benefits
Cetamine treatment products are single, all-in-one treatment chemicals based on a combination of
amines (neutralizing and filming) and scale inhibitors.
1
Neutralizing amines are used to increase the pH in condensate systems where corrosion caused by
low pH condensate (caused by the presence of carbonic acid/carbon dioxide) is a particular issue.
Filming amines are used to offer superior corrosion resistance in all wetted parts of the steam
system (boiler internals, condensate systems and hotwells) by means of forming a protective film.
This film prevents dissolved oxygen from reaching and attacking metal surfaces, thereby
considerably reducing existing corrosion rates.
In addition to the corrosion reducing properties of Cetamine, the products also have the ability to
reduce boilerhouse fuel bills. These reductions are achieved by improvements in heat transfer
efficiencies at heat exchange surfaces. This phenomenon has been verified by independent
academic studies.
Supplemental to improving heat transfer efficiencies, adding Cetamine products to a boiler has
negligible effect on the TDS level, thereby reducing the amount of blowdown required (typically
reducing fuel consumption by 2-5% on systems using softened make-up). This also has the effect of
reducing salinity levels in boilers, which results in more effective prevention and control of boiler
carryover.
Cetamine products are single products with considerably lower dose rates (based on make-up water
consumption) than tradition treatments. This results in much lower chemical consumption, simpler
dosing systems (typically one pump and one dosing tank) and considerably less involvement of site
staff (no need to test/adjust for sulphite or manually handle chemicals).
Finally, in addition to the previously stated benefits Cetamine products are easily biodegradable.
Summary
The Cetamine range of products are a unique and highly effective method of protecting, maintaining
and improving steam systems of any age.
The combination of benefits offered is not available in any other traditional treatment system. This
fact combined with the highest levels of customer service offered by Thermal Impact Group means
that there is no other boiler water treatment service available in Ireland offering comparable
improvements in energy efficiencies, corrosion reduction and simplicity of ease of use.
