A1-3 Assignment 1

• That plan is your topic. Your outline’s title is “The Three Best Ways to Succeed
in ENGL 0601: Introduction to Literature.” Imagine that you are going to write a
five‐paragraph traditional essay on the topic.
• Your three best ways must centre on time allocation, study environment, and
motivation.

Directions
1. Using Alternative Format I or II, prepare a traditional essay outline. (10 marks)
2. Write the introductory paragraph. (5 marks)

Notes
• In doing this assignment part, write in the third person and in the present
tense.
• Draw on study tips from the ENGL 0601 Course Guide and the rest of the
course materials. However, use your own words.
• Use one of skeletal outlines that are provided on the following pages. (Follow
one of the formats.)
• Similarly, for the introductory paragraph, using the lines that are provided
(after the skeletal Alternative Format II) is optional.
• Do not write the rest of the essay, but ensure that the introduction
(introductory paragraph) would be suitable for a well‐developed essay.
• Edit, revise, and proof the introductory paragraph before submitting the
assignment.
