LECTURE GUIDE
LESSON GUIDE- BEGINNER LEVEL
Beginner-level students have had so little exposure to the English language, they have absolutely nothing to build on. They
cannot speak english fluently and may have a limited knowledge on vocabularies and so, it is very important for you to know
how to deal with them.

Sample book:
Listen and Repeat - This is a valid technique that exposes student to
the language,. It may help you mention his name first followed by the first
word of the expression you want him to learn.
● Example: “(name of student), This–is–body..” Wait for him to say
the first word before you proceed uttering the next.

Describing a Picture - You can show him a picture and ask lots of
extension questions. It is also better to lead your student to find new
vocabularies.

● Example: “What is the color of his hair?” wait for him to answer
and ask again: How about his shirt?

However, these extension questions and their answers are

meant to introduce new words to the student. Answering them
is not the main objective. As a teacher, it is your job to
introduced it to them.
Guide the student to say the words while
answering such activities:

Guide the student to

answer:
“Letter A is _____.”

You may come up with

your own sentence
pattern.
Emphasize on speaking or reading the words
as they answer such activities:

To maximize the
time, be flexible on
your class and ask
the students basic
questions such as:

“How does the

baby feel?”

“Who are they?”

LESSON GUIDE- LET’S GO BOOKS
IMPORTANT: For Listening and Writing part such as:
It is highly discouraged to use
audio file in class, hence, you
need to improvise this part of
the book. Recommendations
are:
- Let the student make the
sentence instead while
you point to the picture.
- Let the student describe
each picture.
LESSON GUIDE- LET’S GO BOOKS
Be flexible with the lesson.
Instead of having your student
listen and write:
- Show your student other
example pictures.
- Let the student describe
each picture.
- Ask your student for
other words or examples
of the said letter.
LESSON GUIDE- LET’S GO BOOKS
IMPORTANT: There is NO NEED to ask the student to trace. Just ask the student what letter is it and if it’s upper or lowercase and
what sound does it make.
Guide the student to answer in complete sentence such as: “This is letter _____. (Letter) sounds _____.”
LESSON GUIDE- LET’S GO BOOKS
If your student insists on writing the word in activities like this, make sure he say the word or each letter while writing it. Ask him
more to describe each picture. Guide the student to make complete sentences.
LESSON GUIDE- RAZ BOOKS

you. Correct any pronunciation mistakes.

they see in the picture. It is also better to lead your
student to find new vocabularies.

“Are you happy? ”

However, these extension questions and their answers

are meant to introduce new words to the student.
Answering them is not the main objective. As a teacher,
it is your job to introduced it to them.
LESSON GUIDE- BOOKS WITH STORIES
Discuss each paragraph. Don’t
just focus on student’s reading
but test the comprehension
skill. Additionally:
- Ask if student has any
questions.
- Discuss new words with
the student.
- Make sure the student
understands each
paragraph.
LESSON GUIDE- Cambridge Book
Student’s device isn’t suitable
for drawing. Instead, guide your
student to answer in complete
sentences.
- If the student insists on
drawing while making
sentences, make sure the
focus is more on the
speaking practice, rather
than writing or drawing
practice.

with describing picture.
