1.0 GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1 Terminology
1.1.1CMP
Cement-Mix Pile.
1.1.1 Reverse Mortar
Displaced mixture of sludge and cement after the mortar is injected in.
1.1.2 Guidance Groove
The groove preventing sludge from overflowing
1.1.3 Hanging Method
After the pile machine is assembled adjust the drill pipe to vertical with a transit instrument, the weld the
verticality calibration point of the pile machine to the barrel, hang a plumb bob at 5m above the ground right
aligning with the calibration point to ensure the pile machine vertical. The ratio of the distance between the
tip of plumb bob and verticality calibration point to the height of the plumb bob is the verticality deviation,
according to section 7.14 of Technical Code for Ground Treatment of Building IGJ79-2012, the deviation
shall be controlled within 1%.

3.0 SCOPE of WORKS

3.1 Scope Definition

(1)Preceding works: Land handing over.

(2)Subsequent works: the construction of Site leveling next to the Cement-Mixed Pile. After the cement-mixed
column is constructed the Cast-in-situ Bored Pile within the range of cement-mixed column is constructed.
3.2 Supporting Activities
(1) Sinking speed and rising speed:
The sinking speed and rising speed of drill pipe is calculated with a stopwatch.

(2)Verticality:
Pile machine verticality is controlled with hanging method.

(3)Mud proportion:
the sludge in every tank needs water 900kg, cement 600kg.

(4) Duration of static spray:

Duration of static spray of pile base with stopwatch.

7.0 WORKING PROCEDURES

7.1 Preparatory Works

(1) Material preparation
According to technical specifications, the purchase of satisfactory cement. After the material is moved to the
site, the material is tested and the raw material can only be used if the technical specifications meet the
requirements.

(2) Equipment preparation

The following equipment shall be prepared: Triaxial cement-mixed pile machine, excavator.

(3) Manpower preparation

Based on the construction plan of the Cement Mixed Pile, specific number of managers and labour are
necessary for the work. The construction work can only be commenced when the manpower preparation is
completed.

(4) Surface cleaning and leveling

After the site transfer, all the silt, trees and rubbish in the construction area will be cleaned up and transported
to the waste disposal area. After the cleaning is completed, the site is backfilled to the construction elevation.
7.2 Surveying And Setting Out
Before the construction, the surveyor shall survey and set out each row of pile position axis by using GPS
according to control points(Measure allowable paying off deviation :5CM); the center distance between
positions of two triaxial cement-mixed columns is 1.8m, and the pile position center shall be set out on the axis
according to the above-mentioned size.
7.3 Construction of Cement-Mixed Columns
7.3.1 Digging Groove
According to the position centerline of the triaxial cement-mixed column, the groove (1.2m wide and 0.5m
deep) shall be dug with an excavator.
7.3.2 Pile Driver Perching
The on-site construction workers and pile driver team leader shall uniformly command the pile driver perching,
and the steel plate shall be paved below the pile driver. Before movement, check the surrounding conditions,
and remove the obstacles, if any, timely. The drill pipe must be adjusted before each construction to ensure that
the drill pipe is vertical. Using hanging method to control verticality of pile machine with deviation value
controlled within 1%.

Figure 7.3.2-1 Construction of Triaxial Cement-Mixed Column

7.3.3 Preparation of Cement Slurry And Slurry Infusion
The ordinary Portland cement with strength grade of 42.5 shall be used, the water-cement ratio of cement
slurry is 1.5:1, and the final cement content in pile is not less than 20%, the final content of cement should be
determined according to the test results.
7.3.4 Drilling Stirring And Upgrading
Three-axis cement mixing pile with four spray four stir the construction process, the cement and undisturbed
soil shall be uniform mixing, sinking and lifting process are grouting, according to mixing pile construction
process requirements, drill pipe sinking and lifting are required Into the cement slurry. In the process of
sinking, spraying starts at a height of 50 cm from the top of the pile. After reaching the elevation of the pile
bottom, it is lifted upward by 3 m and then subsides to the elevation of the bottom of the pile for 60 s, then
rises to the top of pile top and ends the spraying. Mixing pile slurrying surface should be higher than the top of
the pile design elevation 500mm.

8.5 Test Method

Double-acting single tube drilling rig is adopted for the coring of the cement-mixde pile.
(1) After the rig is installed and fixed, adjustment is carried out to make sure that the center of vertical axis of
the rig and the hoisting sheave (point of tangency at the front edge of crown block) are vertically in line with
the hole center. No tilt and displacement of the rig is allowed during the coring process. The verticality
deviation shall be less than 0.5%.

(2)In the drilling process, the circulating water flow in the hole shall be adjusted according to the situation in
time to avoid damaging the core. Each footage shall be controlled within 1.5m.

(3)When lifting the drill pipe and taking the sample cores, it shall be done by tightening the drill and the
reamer.

(4)The core samples taken shall be placed in order from top to bottom, with its sampling depth marked.

description of coring method and process see Section 5 of Chapter 8.

(2) 42.5 ordinary portland cement shall be used and timely tested after deliver to site. For content of cement
detection see Section 2 of Chapter 6.

(3)The configured slurry shall be of good fluidity and the slurry shall be supplied continuously without
interruption. Water and cement shall be mixed evenly without precipitant in mixed mortar.

(4)The water-cement ratio, cement-mixed column driver sinking and upgrading velocity shall be strictly
controlled. For quality control of water-cement ratio and control of sinking and rising speed of drill pipe see
Section 2 of Chapter 3.

Revision 2 12 / 26
