Unit 6
Unit 6
In this modern era of technology, we are surrounded by electronic gadgets and devices that make our
lives easier and more efficient. One such device that I find extremely useful is my smartwatch. For this
topic, I will talk about this device.
My smartwatch is a wearable electronic device that looks like a regular watch but has advanced features
and functions beyond telling time. It has a touchscreen display and is designed to be synced with my
smartphone. I learned how to use my smartwatch by reading the instruction manual and watching
online tutorials. It was relatively easy to set up and connect to my phone. It has many features that took
me time to learn but I eventually learned all the features this smartphone has. I have been using my
smartwatch for about a year now. I purchased it online after reading positive reviews about its features
and performance. Since I walk or run almost every single day, it has proven to be a very useful device so
far.
There are several reasons why I find my smartwatch useful. Firstly, it allows me to stay connected to my
smartphone without having to constantly check it. I can receive notifications, check my emails and
messages, and make phone calls directly from my wrist. Secondly, it has a number of health-related
features such as a heart rate monitor, pedometer, and sleep tracker that help me stay on top of my
fitness goals. Finally, it has a stylish design that complements my outfit and can be customized with
various watch faces and bands to suit my personal style.
That’s all I would like to share with you. Thank you for your listening.
Part 3:
A. Technological developments
1. What have been the most significant technological developments of recent years?
Everyone can now readily and affordably contact practically anyone in the world thanks to the
Internet, which has helped to build a global village simply to talk, conduct business, or discover
love. There is a revolution something I don't believe has ever been seen before. We can access
the Internet both at home on our personal computers and when we're on the go using our
smartphones and laptops. Consequently, we have access to virtually endless sources of
knowledge from anywhere.
2. In what ways have these developments changed society for the better and for the worse?
I believe that advances in technology are altering our world. The evolution of the Internet has an
impact on every aspect of our lives, from our fundamental social connections to the ways we
work, learn, and live. Since there are so many resources on different web platforms, we have
more options than ever to rapidly look for specific information. There is no denying that
technology has made living more comfortable.
3. Are people in your country nostalgic about life before technology?
I think before the Internet marched in, it was a quiter society with more private and fun
which last in short period of time. Since people seem to forget this feeling because of the
convenience of technological developments. For instance, my mom never had the
opportunity to use the internet as a child, so she had to settle for playing traditional games at
the park with her pals. She constantly feels regretful about life before the invention of
technology because of these special recollections.
B. Science and ethics
1. Why do you think some people claim scientists interfere too much with nature?
Because it should be noted that when new research is to be carried out, scientists usually
use animals. This may lead to the animal contracting a disease or even death. There are now
robots that can talk and communicate with people.
There are some advancements in research that people see as interfering with nature Women
can now give birth without having sexual intercourse. These are interference with nature.
2. Do you have anything against animal testing?
I support the prohibition of animal testing for non-medical products. Since I tend to believe that
using animals for experiments is immoral, I would have to support only a small amount of
animal testing for the creation of pharmaceuticals. However, in the case of novel medications
and medical treatments, I believe it might be a necessary evil.
3. Is scientific progress always for the greater good?
Well, I mean, I think that scientific advancement is still very important to human life even if we
are not addressing the issue of animal testing. It is clear that as a result, we may now take use of
a number of developments that have transformed our lives, such as light bulbs, the Internet,
mobile phones, and more. What’s important, in my opinion, is that scientists always keep morals
in mind when they carry out their research.
