I’ve read countless titles on Chinese Metaphysics and contributed my 命
fair share to the existing literature, too. At last count, I’d written over 102 理
books on various topics! This is my tenth book on Qi Men Dun Jia, and 篇
I must admit that I have a soft spot for books like this one, which focus
on application rather than theory.

Let’s be candid. Everyone likes to impress others with a library full

of thick, hardcover reference books. These titles look great but they
aren’t all that useful if they don’t share shelf space with books about
application, too. What’s more, it is one thing to understand a subject.
It is quite another to know how to apply that understanding. With this
ability comes true mastery of the subject matter.

If you are reading this preface, then you are probably familiar with the
preceding titles in this Qi Men Dun Jia series. I had originally written
them to support my Qi Men Dun Jia courses and help my students
enhance their technical understanding of the topic. I made sure they
covered and explained the ancient Qi Men Dun Jia texts, and that
they were comprehensive enough to serve as useful reference texts
for a modern world. If, as a reader, you wanted to claim knowledge of
Qi Men Dun Jia, then you could safely stop at book number nine. If,
however, you want to really solidify your education and apply what you
had learned, then I would encourage you to continue your study with
this title.

This book isn’t about the technical stuff. This book is all about application.
If you’re tired of theory and ready for practice, then read on.

When writing, I designed a format that allows you to make a full destiny
reading simply by referencing the relevant chart from a table and
turning to the specified page. Think of this book as a rapid Qi Men Dun
Jia advice-deployment system. How has this been made possible? Isn’t
Qi Men Dun Jia notoriously complex?

Historically, Qi Men Dun Jia was described as a forecasting or divination

system. Ancient texts viewed and referred to the system in the context
of warfare or battle. The system can also, however, be used in many
other ways; for example, to determine the outcome of hiring a new
employee, future marriage prospects, the chances of finding a lost item
- you name it! Qi Men can provide the answers and it still has a place
in the modern world. In this book, I’ve expanded this system to include
three more branches of applications - Date and Activity Selection (as a
Business strategy), Feng Shui and Destiny Analysis.

甲 involve many days of intense training. Over time, however, I have come
命 to discover that there are quick shorthands and special systems that
理 allow Qi Men to be used more rapidly. This has come about as a result of
my 17 years of experience with no-nonsense business clients and VIPs

who demand answers quickly. Over these 17 years, I have managed to
simplify the system to deliver the most important results without losing
the essence of Qi Men.

This book on Qi Men Dun Jia Destiny Analysis will show you my
special system. It is a simplified Destiny Analysis system. It will give
you an overview of a person’s Destiny in five minutes. All you need to
do is reference the correct chart and turn the page. Qi Men Destiny
Analysis is normally complex and time consuming. I’ve done the
complex calculations and hard work for you, summarizing my findings
into categories and answers relevant to people alive today.

I hope you will enjoy using this book for your Qi Men Destiny Analysis
endeavors. This book should teach you all you need to know to perform
a rough and ready analysis for friends and family should you so wish.

甲 Qi Men Dun Jia 奇門遁甲, loosely translated as Mysterious Doors
命 Escaping Technique, is a Chinese Metaphysical science of
理 forecasting and warfare that has been in existence for over 3,000
篇 years. Many assume that Qi Men Dun Jia is only a divination system
used to predict outcomes of events. But this is far from the truth.
There are generally FOUR application methods of Qi Men Dun Jia
and there are, namely:

1) Qi Men Forecasting

2) Qi Men Date, Time and Task Selection

3) Qi Men Feng Shui

4) Qi Men Destiny Analysis

This book, focuses on the technique of “Qi Men Destiny Analysis”.

This means, using the Qi Men Dun Jia system and applying it to
analyze or read one’s destiny.

A little bit about Qi Men Dun Jia’s Origins

Now, before we jump right in to discussion Qi Men Destiny Analysis,

let’s go through a little background information about Qi Men. In
case you are new to this subject.

It might be helpful to consider Qi Men as a cosmic game of chess.

Deconstructing the name itself explains it in a way: the word “Qi”
奇 refers to the mysterious, strange and unusual (as opposed
to the energy Qi 氣), a reference to the universal rules of the
cosmos. “Men” 門 literally translates to mean “door” or “gate”;
“Dun” 遁 translates to “hide”, “escape to remain hidden”; while
“Jia” 甲 is a reference to the first of the ten Heavenly Stems. In
military application, “Jia” is the coded reference to the General
or the Grand Marshall. By combining these words together, it is
transliterated as “Mysterious Doors Hiding the Jia”, which sounds
far too complicated and somewhat dense, obfuscating what it

actually means. As such, it’s been reworded to the more succinct 門

But why is Qi Men compared to chess? The goal in chess is always 命
to protect and advance the King. In Qi Men, depending on your 理

goal, the idea is to either hide the Jia or find it in the Qi Men
chart.

Qi Men Dun Jia is part of the “Three Oracles” or the three highest
metaphysical arts in Chinese Metaphysics history, along with Da Liu
Ren 大六壬 and Tai Yi Shen Shu 太乙神數. Together – Tai Yi, Liu Ren
and Qi Men make up the legendary Three Oracle Methods 三式 of
ancient China. These methods were used by imperial astrologers
of the imperial government in ancient China to forecast outcomes
in relation to aspects of time, events, people and space – much
like how computers today can measure and calculate then
forecast the weather and even the stock market.

Qi Men Dun Jia is the only method among the Three Oracles
that remain highly practiced in the modern world today. This is
because its uncanny accuracy in forecasting events and offering
valuable insights for business tycoons or political leaders to make
decisions on a daily, or even, hourly basis.

Qi Men Dun Jia shares the same backbone as all other Chinese
Metaphysics disciplines. This means it is a system that shares
fundamental concepts like the Ba Gua attributes, the Five
Elements, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, the He Tu
and Luo Shu, the Yin and Yang, etc. However, it is a much more
sophisticated level of Chinese Metaphysics. Ordinary systems of
metaphysics address the concept of the Trinity of Luck – Heaven,
Earth and Man Luck. In Qi Men Dun Jia, there is an additional layer
called the Spirit Luck, where the universal energy or ‘spirit realm’
layer is also taken into consideration.

奇 In ancient China, Qi Men Dun Jia was mainly used for warfare and

遁 military strategies. Qi Men Dun Jia was also applied by legendary
甲 Chinese military strategists like Jiang Zi Ya 姜子牙, Zhuge Liang 諸
命葛亮, Liu Wen Bo 劉溫伯, Zhang Liang 張良 and many others as a
理 powerful system to devise and execute military strategies and
篇 tactics to win wars or to rule a country. It’s interesting to note
that during ancient times, Qi Men Dun Jia was considered an
elite discipline of study, reserved only for the Emperor and the
aristocracy, and forbidden to the common people. Thus, it was
named “The Emperor’s Exclusive Imperial Knowledge”.

How is does Qi Men Dun Jia work?

Qi Men uses a technique for calculating the Qi Map of a specific

moment in time and space. The traditional Qi Men method’s
purpose is to enable the practitioner to study the Qi map and
pinpoint a desired moment in time in which one can embark on
a specific action to produce a very specific desired outcome. In
the context of ancient military warfare, for example, Qi Men was
used primarily to identify the right time and place to besiege or
attack the enemy in order to ensure absolute success. Wars, of
course, were lost due to bad strategy, wrong usage of people and
geography and of course, timing, so this technique proved to be
particularly valuable to Chinese emperors.

There are a total of 1,080 Qi Men Maps we call “Qi Men Dun Jia
Charts”. Each chart has 8 Directions (represented by directions of
a compass). And inside each sector, there are four components
that describe the Heaven, Earth, Man and even Spiritual influences
over that area. In layman’s terms, this means the time, space,
events and spiritual influences over a matter.

While the Qi Men Dun Jia system was originally used as a

forecasting tool for war strategists to plan their attacks and
defense, it was in later years, slowly converted into a system of
Forecasting (or divination of sorts). And it is applied to forecast or
shed light onto events like forecasting the weather, outcome of a
marriage, competition, games, money related decisions, career

decisions, finding lost item, finding lost people, cracking criminal 門
cases and so forth. The modern day business tycoons in Hong Kong 遁
and Taiwan employ Qi Men Dun Jia masters to be their strategic 甲
advisors by turning Qi Men Dun Jia into a business consulting and 命
investment advisory tool. (The author currently is commissioned by 理
many of Asia’s top tycoons as their Qi Men business strategist).

Qi Men Dun Jia, unlike other metaphysical systems, is a very
versatile system. In the Ming Dynasty, the Qi Men Dun Jia system
has branched out to include applications on Feng Shui and
Destiny Analysis.

The fundamentals of Qi Men remain the same – whether it is

applied as a Date Selection tool or a Destiny Analysis or Feng Shui
tool. Once you have understood the fundamentals, you will find
that the application becomes easy.

The Four Application Methods of Qi Men Dun Jia

Essentially, Qi Men Dun Jia is used in the following:

i. Forecasting – Qi Men uses different predictive methods to

forecast different situations or activities. It can also be used
as a divination technique to look back at one’s history to
assess the past in addition to forecasting the future. To arrive
at an analysis of how one might alter one’s behaviour in the
future in order to get a particular result, the past history can
be studied.

ii. Date and Activity Selection – Unlike Date Selection or Ze

Ri 擇日, Qi Men places less importance on the date and
more emphasis on the time and location. Through careful
calculation, it has the ability to arrive at the ‘golden moment’
- that is, a specific hour in a day combined with a specific
direction and a specific action - to guarantee a successful
undertaking.

門 iii. Feng Shui – Qi Men is used to forecast the fortunes and
遁 outcomes of the residents in a property. It can determine
甲 the House Qi influences on an individual using a particular
命 sector in the property, in relation to specific situations like the
理 outcome of business endeavors, academic pursuits, financial
篇 matters, familial relationships, and health.

iv. Destiny Analysis – or Astrology, if you would like to call it,

which this book focuses on, uses one’s birth date and time
to plot the Qi Men chart. The BaZi of the person would be
applied into the Qi Men Dun Jia chart. In this system the Day
of birth’s Heavenly Stem represents the person’s personality
and character and inner thinking and motivation, while the
Month Heavenly Stem represents the person’s siblings and
Year Heavenly Stems represents the person’s parents while
the Hour Heavenly Stem represents the person’s children. As
such, the relationship between a person and his/her parents,
siblings and family can be read.

In addition, through a reading of the interaction of the Stems and

the 9 Stars, 8 Doors and 8 Deities, a person’s career, academic
achievements, wealth capacity, health condition, relationship
life - i.e. destiny outlook - can be read and analysed from the Qi
Men chart.

In this book, I will be sharing with you a simplified version of Qi Men

Destiny Analysis. It has taken me a very long time to come up with
this simplified version of the system. Trust me, simplifying a super
complex system like Qi Men is no simple task indeed. There are 10
Stems, 8 Doors, 9 Stars and 8 Deities in 8 Different Palaces along
with people born in different Year, Month, Day and Hours! I have to
find a way to put the information together so that you could USE
the information to perform a Destiny Analysis instantly without the
need to perform deep analysis.

complex system. But in this book, I’ve simplified the entire system 命
and created a ‘look-up-and-refer’ style format where you can 理

immediately dive down to analyzing Qi Men Destiny charts.
This book is written in a simple but effective format to give you
immediate assessment on one’s outlook in life including key areas
like personality, family relationship, financial well-being, health
status, and luck trends.

While there are many components to a full-fledged Qi Men

Destiny chart, I’ve written this book to give you a snapshot of a
person’s destiny by looking at just two of the most crucial points
in the chart. These are the Life Stem and the Destiny Door of the
individual.

Qi Men Dun Jia Astrology Concepts:

The Life Stem in Qi Men Dun Jia refers to

Life Stem
the person’s DAY of Birth STEM.

The Destiny Door is the “Door” that the

Destiny Door Life Stem resides on in the Qi Men Birth
Chart.

門 There are few ways you can determine your Life Stem and Your
遁 Destiny Door so that you could use the information in this book.

命 1) Find Your Life Stem

篇 If you are familiar with BaZi, this should be no problem for you.
All you need is your own BaZi chart. So grab a Ten Thousand
Year Calendar and plot out your BaZi chart. You can also do
this with any BaZi online or offline software or App. All you need
to know is your DAY OF BIRTH’s Heavenly Stem.

2) Find Your Destiny Door

Now, what you need to do next here is to PLOT the Qi Men Dun
Jia chart using your Date and Time of Birth. On that chart, look for
the location of your Life Stem (on the Heavenly Plate) and check
out which “Door” is in that palace. That “Door” will be your Destiny
Door.

METHOD 1 – The Simple Chart Method

Unfortunately, unless you are very good at plotting BaZi and

Qi Men Dun Jia charts, finding your Life Stem and Destiny Door
would be pretty difficult for you. But fret not, for I have devised
a reference table for you to simply ‘look up’ your Destiny Door
without the need to plot a full Qi Men Chart. This will save you from
all the trouble and a lot of time.

So, here is what you need to do:

Step 1
You need to grab a copy of the Qi Men Dun Jia
Ten Thousand Year Calendar. Look up your Date of
Birth on that calendar. Suppose your Date of Birth
is 19 May 1973 at 19:21 hours, look up the calendar
for this date.
