Collaborator(s) (if any):
Project concept and SDG mapping: The project aims to develop a Water Quality Monitoring and
Purification System that addresses the sustainable development goal (SDG) of clean water and sanitation
(SDG 6). The system will utilize advanced sensing technologies and purification methods to monitor and
improve the quality of water sources, ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water.
Objectives:
1. Develop a network of water quality sensors to monitor parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity,
and chemical contaminants in real time.
2. Design a data acquisition and analysis system to process and interpret the collected water quality data.
3. Implement an automated water purification system that integrates filtration, disinfection, and advanced
purification techniques to treat contaminated water sources.
4. Create a user-friendly interface, including a mobile application and web portal, for users to monitor water
quality data, receive alerts, and access purification system controls.
5. Collaborate with local water authorities and communities to implement the system in areas facing water
quality challenges, promoting sustainable water management practices
Short summary of the project (not more than 200 words):
The Water Quality Monitoring and Purification System project aims to address the critical issue of ensuring
clean and safe drinking water. By deploying a network of water quality sensors, the system continuously
monitors important parameters and detects any anomalies or contaminants in real time. The collected data is
processed and analyzed through a dedicated system, enabling timely interventions and decision-making. To
purify the water, an automated system is implemented, incorporating various purification methods such as
filtration, disinfection, and advanced purification techniques. The system ensures that the water meets the
required quality standards and is safe for consumption. Users can access the system through a user-friendly
interface, including a mobile application and web portal, to monitor water quality data, receive alerts about any
deviations, and control the purification system. Collaborations with local water authorities and communities are
established to implement the system in areas facing water quality challenges, promoting sustainable water
management practices and improving access to clean water.
Materials, Tools, equipment/instruments required:
- Water quality sensors (pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, etc.)
- Data acquisition and analysis system
- Water purification system components (filtration units, disinfection methods, advanced purification
technologies)
- Microcontrollers and sensors for system control and automation
- Mobile application and web development tools
- Collaboration with local water authorities and communities
