SCIENCE 5-DLP-Feb 27, 2023

This document contains a lesson plan for a science class that will explore how black and colored objects absorb heat. The lesson plan lists the class schedule, objectives to understand how color affects heat absorption, and materials needed. It details the learning tasks which include an introduction, group activities exploring color absorption using flashlights and colored paper, a video identifying black and colored objects in a safari, and an assignment to create a concept map. The lesson aims to help students describe the characteristics of black and colored objects.

LESSON PLAN in SCIENCE V

8:50-9:40-DAHLIA
9:40-10:30-HYACINTH
11:10-12:00-TULIPS
12:40-1:30-MARIGOLD

I. Objectives:
A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate understanding on how black and colored objects affect the ability
to absorb heat.
B. Performance Standard
The learners should be able to perform the activities sensibly.
C. Learning Competency/Objective
The learner should be able to describe the characteristics of black and colored objects.
S5FE-IIId-4
II Subject Matter:
Effects of Light and Sound, Heat and Electricity
A. Concepts:
Light is the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.
Heat can be transferred from one object to another or from one molecule to another
through the process of conduction.
Sound produced by continuous and regular vibrations, as opposed to noise.
B. Materials:
PowerPoint Presentation, worksheets

C. References:
A. References:
1. Textbook pages
2. Additional Materials from Learning Resource (LR)
B. Other Learning Resources: https://www.reference.com/science/list-black-

E. Process Skills
observing, describing, analyzing, communicating, demonstrating
F. Values Integration
Cooperation
III. Learning Tasks
Preliminaries:
1.Prayer
2.Reminder of the classroom health and safety protocols
3.Checking of attendance
4.Quick “Kumustahan”
5.Singing of “Science Song”
6.Drill
Read the following words:
1. Light
2. Heat
3. Molecule
4. Electricity
5. Resources

1. Elicit
Direction: Give an example of a good conductor. For every correct answer, the pupil may open
a covered letter to reveal and guess the mystery word.

C O N D U C T O R S

Then, ask the class. “Why are conductors important?”

2. Engage

Group yourselves according to your favorite color.

Why is that your favorite color?

3. Explore
Group Activity: “How Do I Get My Color?”

I. Problem: What are the characteristics of colored objects?

II. Materials: 3 pieces of colored cellophane (red, blue, green)
3 flashlights,4 pieces of construction paper (white, red, blue, green
III. Procedures
1. Cover the head of each flashlight with cellophane.
2. Turn on the flashlights and point them at the white paper.
3. Then point the flashlight with the other paper. Red
light – green paper
Green light – blue paper Blue
light – red paper
4. Repeat step 2 and use the 3 different colors together.
IV. Data and Observation Questions
1. What colors do you see?
2. What happens when you looked at the papers through the different
colored cellophane?
3. What color is formed when you combined all the three colors?

4. What color of light beams did you combine to produce a white light?
V. Conclusion:
I therefore conclude that .

4. Explain
a. Group reporting
b. Sharing of results of the activity.
c. Who among you have been to a Safari? Would you like to go on
a Safari? Come on and watch this interactive song video and
identify the black and colored objects found in there.

“Color Songs - Let's Spell Black”

1. What black objects are found in Safari?

2. What are their characteristics?
3. What insight have you learned about the importance of colors in our environment?

5. Elaborate
What did you learn today?
What are the characteristics of black and colored objects?
6. Evaluate:
Directions: Fill in the blanks with the correct words that will complete the thought of
the paragraph.

A object looks black because it all the wavelengths in

white and reflects . The observable color of an object has to do with the light
that are reflected from that object. A leaf is green because
when white light hits it, its atomic innards reflect all the wavelengths more
than the other colors and bounce them at our eyes.

Answers: (black – absorbs – none –wavelengths – green)

7. Extend
Assignment:

Make a concept map on characteristics and examples of black and

colored objects.
V. Remarks:

INDEX OF MASTERY
DAHLIA HYACINTH TULIPS MARIGOLD
5X = 5X = 5X = 5X =
4X = 4X = 4X = 4X =
3X = 3X = 3X = 3X =
2X = 2X = 2X = 2X =
