Weibull Analysis Tools:
1- Non-Parametric LDA Folio (Not use for us as mostly for design for prototype product testing)
This technique is useful when dealing with unknown failure modes, when there is not
enough data to assume a life distribution.
2- Life Stress Data Folio: we don’t have license for this:
Accelerated Life Testing (ALTA) life-stress data folio is used to perform quantitative
accelerated life testing data analysis, under condition, like Temp., Voltage, and Humidity etc.
3- Growth Data Analysis Folio: we don’t have license:
Basically used to find out product reliability growth analysis i.e. it use The Crow-AMSAA
(NHPP) and it is one of the most popular models used for modelling time-to-failure data
obtained during developmental testing.
a. Degradation Analysis Folio:
Degradation analysis is a technique that uses the degradation measurements of an item over
time to predict the point at which item is expected to fail.
Example-1: To identify the P-F Interval or Failure Detection Threshold for detectability of
failure
Scenario-1:
TV & LP-HP Compressor Oil degradation analysis for finding P-F interval for oil replacement
& maintaining oil stock on as required basis spare policy.
Inspection Time (Hrs/Month) Measurement Unit ID
Critical Degradation: is the level of degradation that is considered a failure
Result: Plot-degradation vs Time, Reliability, Conditional reliability, Bx% life, Mean Life &
Failure Rate
Scenario-2: Clogging problem or erosion issue in pipeline (In line I&C-Team)
Result:
Unit ID Warning (P) Failure Time (F) P-F Interval FDT
A01 11.33 13.5 2.17 0.84
A02 11.05 14 2.95 0.79
Average 2.48 0.84

b. Non –Parametric RDA:
Uses Mean Cumulative Function (MCF) model to describe:
Evaluating whether the item/equipment repair (or cost) rate increases or decreases with age.
Example: We can predict cumulative nos. of seal failures of similar 10 nos. export pumps after 5 years
of operation.
Result:
By seeing result MCF plot, if MCF is 0.366, than after 5 years for 10 export pump will have cumulative
failure of = 0.366*10 i.e. 3.6 failures of mech. Seal.
System ID State (F/E) Time of Event (Hrs)
P-1 to P-6 F or E Values from Weibull F/R dist.
c. Parametric RDA:
Uses GRP (General Renewal Process) model to analyse the effectiveness of repairs on the age of the
system. RF=1 as good as new, RF=0-1, better than old but verse than new, RF=0, as bad as old.
System ID State (F/E) Time of Event (Hrs)
P-1 F or E Values from Weibull F/R dist.
Result: Cumulative failure & its intensity, Conditional Reliability.
d. Event Log Data Folio:
Event logs, or maintenance logs, store information about a piece of equipment's failures and repairs. It
provide useful information like nos. of failure modes, frequency of outages, repair duration,
uptime/downtime and availability of the equipment.
e. Preventive Maintenance and the Cost Per Unit Time Equation: (Test & Planning-Maintenance Planning)
To analyse beta >1.
Components that wear out are candidates for preventive maintenance.
To define: Cost of Planned/Unplanned/Inspection and also % of FDT
Result: Plot-Planned/Inspection Replacement or both
f. Life Comparison Tools:
Can we used to identify what is the probability that Pump-1 with last longer than Pump-2
Result: Probability P11<P2 = 79.4675%
