Hands-On Project Week 9: Customize Standard

Functionality and the User Interface

This project will reference previous weeks projects. Please use the previous
week’s playground to complete.

Scenario:
As an administrator at Allied Kicks, we want to make our users' working lives as efficient
as possible. In this lesson we’ll be exploring how we can modify the standard
functionality to meet the business process of Allied Kicks and build custom fields to
achieve this.

As a group, you will need to plan a demonstration, meeting the project requirements,
that you will play back to your mentor. You need to explain and demonstrate each step
in your playback as if your mentor is new to Salesforce.

Answer the questions in the project individually.

Use a Trailhead Playground for your demonstration.

1. You’re starting to look at how to customize the out of the box salesforce fields to
meet Allied Kicks business requirements. The rating fields needs to be renamed,
Prospect Rating and only be editable or sales users and system administrators
2. Sales Users have informed you that they require additional fields to capture
specific customer information. You will need to demonstrate how to build custom
fields for this purpose on the account object. Active Customer Plan (Checkbox)
Customer Expiration Date (Date field)
3. The Sales managers would like further insight into the reason why opportunities
are won and lost. Whenever a stage changes to won or lost they would like the
appropriate reason to display for each to be able to report on these reasons
4. Allied Kicks Support reps would like to capture a backup agent on their case
records. We need to make sure that only suitable user will be available for
selection in this lookup field
5. Sales reps receive a 10% commission on their successful opportunities and
should only display this commission amount once this milestone is reached
6. There are many opportunity records at Allied kicks and Sales users would like to
easily view their most valuable opportunities and explore the different ways to
visualize them
7. The new fields created have been a success. Your manager has requested we
customize the account page layout so they are easy to find by creating a new
section for the fields. Also opportunities should be at the top of the related list
8. Your manager would like to display a different page layout depending on the type
of account being created. Demonstrate how record types can achieve this.
Create a second page layout which does not include the customer information
we included previously
9. The sales process has been streamlined at Allied Kicks. You have been tasked to
customize our sales process and provide users guidance for this streamlined
process. Create a new sales process by removing the Value Proposition and
Perception Analysis stages. Create an opportunity record type to reference this
process. Finally apply help text to a new sales path for the qualification stage
only

Important: The playground you complete this project will be needed for later
weeks projects also. Make sure to name the playground something memorable
and DO NOT delete it.

Now answer the following questions individually and submit them to your mentor:

1. What is a key difference between standard and custom fields?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Which object may have a business process?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Why are Record Types useful?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Which tools allow me to customize the page layout?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. True or False: If I create a page layout, I have to create a record type

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. True or False: If a field is deleted you have 30 days to restore it from the Deleted Fields
section of the Object Manager.
