The study aims to comprehensively assess the effectiveness of NKOM Shipyard's existing
policies. By scrutinizing current practices against industry best practices, the research aims
to pinpoint areas for improvement, paving the way for the implementation of robust
continual improvement initiatives. The dissertation also emphasizes the monitoring of
performance to ensure the sustainable enhancement of Quality, Health, and Environmental
management systems within the expansive operations of NKOM Shipyard in Asia.
2. Background
Nakilat - Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (N-KOM) established in 2008. The shipyard was
inaugurated on 23 November 2010 as part of the Ehrama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard
complex.
Qatar’s premium shipyard, Nakilat - Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (N-KOM) offers a
comprehensive range of marine services as well as solution for the oil and gas industry.
Shipyard strive to provide ship repair, conversion and construction of offshore & onshore
structures, which consistently meet our customers’ and stakeholders’ expectations through
continual improvements and a strong focus on safety, health, wellbeing, environment,
quality and security.
Situated at the heart of the Arabian Gulf, NKOM offers a comprehensive suite of services to
support the needs of the oil and gas industry
The assessment is conducted to understand the current state of its quality management
practices, seeking to enhance its alignment with industry standards and best practices

4. Scope of Work
The investigation involves conducting an extensive analysis of NKOM SHIPYARD's quality
performance data from 2020 to 2023. This thorough examination encompasses various
elements, including audit reports, customer feedback, Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
achievements, rework reports, management reviews, and continual improvement initiatives.
The primary goal of the study is to identify patterns in quality performance and safety
statistics over this period.
