The document provides a semi-detailed lesson plan on introducing computer systems to students. The lesson plan aims to teach students the elements of a computer system including hardware categories. Students will learn about the system unit and identify its key parts like the motherboard, hard disk drive, and power supply. They will also differentiate between primary and secondary storage devices. The lesson concludes with an activity where students identify the parts of a typical computer and an assignment to research types of software.

SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

TECHNOLOGIES (ICT)

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

a. Identify the Elements of Computer System;

b. Discuss the different categories of Hardware; and
c. Point out and demonstrate how to disassemble and assemble parts of System
Unit.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Introduction to Computer System

III. Materials
Laptop, Projector and Computer parts

IV. Procedure
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preparation
Good morning class! Good morning Sir!

Before we proceed, let us all stand and

have the presence of the Lord. _______,
kindly lead us a prayer. (______ will lead the prayer)

Before you take your seat, kindly check

your chairs if they are properly arranged
and see to it that there are no pieces of
trash around it. (Students will follow the instruction)

B. Motivation
Imagine until this time, computers aren’t
invented yet. How do you feel? Yes, Sir, it would be difficult to live, especially for us
_______? students, we need computers to do our
assignments and projects.

You have a point. Probably, life at the

present would be difficult without the help
of these technology that supports us in our
day to day living.

C. Lesson Proper
Now, who owns a computer here in their
home? (Students will raise their hand)

Great! And I believe each of you owns a

computer, either a laptop or a personal
computer, in doing your assignments and
reports for your projects as well as for
your leisure like facebook, twitter and
other social media sites, right? Yes sir.

If that so, who can define a Computer? Sir, a computer is an electronic device used to
Yes, _______ manipulate data into useful information.
Very good. Who also has another idea
about what a computer is? Yes _______. Sir it is a machine or device that performs
processes, calculations and operations based on
instructions provided by a software or hardware
program.

Great! Computers have done a great part

on our daily living.

Similar to us, humans, a computer also has

a system and has three major components
that interacts to each other, namely,
Hardware, software and humanware.
These three components are integral in a
sense that not one of them is functional
without the other.

Now who has an idea about the software

component of a computer?

Yes _________? The software component of a computer are

programs and data which run on hardware
components. It makes hardware components
runs.

Very good! Example of these are the

computer’s operating system and other
applications installed.

Now how about the humanware? Sir, humanware refers to the user of a computer.

Very good. Humanware refers to us, who

gives command to a computer.

And lastly, who has an idea about the

computer’s hardware component? Sir, this is a system interconnected computer that
share a central storage system and other
peripherals devices.

Very good. Computer hardware are made

up of peripheral devices that provides an
input and output to the computer.

Computer hardware are divided into four

major categories and each category
provides an important role on the system.
These are: (1) input devices; (2) Processing
devices; (3) output devices; and (4) storage
devices.

First category is the input device. Now

who has an idea about input devices? Sir input devices are devices that feed and gives
raw data to the computer system.

Very good. Who can give me an example

of a computer hardware? Yes _______. Sir, an example of an input device is the keyboard
and mouse.
Nice! Who can give me another example? The microphone and webcam are also an
example of an input device sir.

Great! Those are the common input

devices that we usually use.

Now, let’s tackle the next category: the

processing hardware. Who has an idea
about this category? Sir processing hardware are the components that
manipulate raw data into information.

Nice! Processing devices converts all the

data inputs into a meaningful information
before it will be used as an output. An
example of these processing devices is the
intel and amd microprocessors.

Next will be the output devices. Kindly

share us your idea about output hardware,
_______. Sir, output hardware are hardware components
that disseminate and display both data and
information.

Very good. Output hardware can also be

categorized into two namely: softcopy
output and hardcopy output.

Now let’s go to the last category of the

computer hardware component – the
storage hardware. Now who has an idea
about the storage hardware. Yes ______? Sir storage hardware are used to store and save
important data in order to secure a copy of it.

Very good. Now who can give me an

example of a storage device? Yes ______? A flash drive sir.

Very good. Another? A CD and a DVD sir.

That’s right. Anymore? An external hard drive sir.

Very good. Now, storage devices are also

divided into two parts – the primary and
secondary storage.

Primary storage refers to all memory that

work in tandem with the processor.
Example of this is the RAM and ROM.

Secondary storage refers to media storage

that do not communicate directly to the
microprocessor. Example of these are the
external storage and flash drives.

Now, who has a computer on their home? (students will raise their hand)

And what does your computer consist of? Sir it consists of a keyboard, a monitor, a mouse,
a speaker and a printer.
Nice! So, this is a typical computer people
usually have.

It has a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, a

printer and a system unit.

Now what is a system unit? Yes ______. Sir a system unit is a box-like case housing the
electronic components of a computer that are
used to process data.
Very good. And sometimes it is called the
chassis. Who has an idea on what is inside
a system unit? Any guess? Give one, yes
______. A hard disk drive sir.

Very good. Another one. Yes _______. A motherboard sir

Nice! Give another. Yes ________. A power supply sir.

Very good. Another part of a system unit is

the Random-Access Memory or RAM, a
video card, CD/DVD ROM and a LAN card.

D. Generalization
Why is it important that we recognize and
know the different part of a computer? Yes
______. Sir recognizing the parts of a computer is
important for us to manipulate the computer
with ease and to familiarize to each component.

Very well. Another answer? Recognizing the part of a computer is important

for us to not have a difficulty using it.

Very good.

E. Evaluation
Get a one whole yellow paper and answer each question.
1-3. What are the elements of Computer System?

4-7. What are the components of Hardware?

8. What is the primary storage or memory of Computer?

9-15. What are the parts of System Unit?

F. Assignment

Find out what are the types of Software?

Write it on a one whole sheet of yellow paper,
