Verbal Irony In Animal Farm
Why is irony so commonly used? Animal Farm is about the Russian Revolution where
the animals take over the farm and overthrow their owner, Jones, who is a human. They
promise that they will never act like humans because Jones treated them so badly but
they break that promise. In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm, the irony is used to
show how power can corrupt those who have it. Throughout the book he uses all three
methods of irony to convey that idea. Dramatic irony is the type of irony that is used the
most and the type that is the most obvious, but situational and verbal irony are used too.

First of all, verbal irony is when the speaker says the opposite of what they mean. This is
used in Animal Farm throughout the book as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This third and final type of irony is constantly used in books and movies. In Animal
Farm, it is used to show the reader how corrupt the pigs are becoming, at times when the
other animals may not realize it. The author demonstrates when the pigs start getting
suspicious when Napoleon tells the animals: Nevermind the milk, comrades! That will
be attended to. The harvest is more important. Comrade Snowball will lead the way. I
shall follow in a few minutes (p.16). When the animals came back in the evening they
noticed that the milk had disappeared. This seems pretty obvious to the readers that
Napoleon is the one who drank all the milk but the other animals would not even think
of the possibility that Napoleon is the one that stole the milk. Later, after Snowball had
been kicked off the farm, Napoleon announced that he found out that Snowball had been
an ally of Jones since the beginning. At this moment, he asks if any other animals knew
about this and demanded that they step forward. Napoleon then got his wild dogs to rip
their throats out and he even attempted to kill Boxer, the brave horse. A few days after
this incident, the animals recalled that the Sixth Commandment No animal shall kill any
other animal had been broken. But when Muriel read it, it ran No animal shall kill any
other animal without cause (p.61). It is obvious to the audience that this commandment
had been changed because if they flip back the book to the beginning, the original list of
Commandments are still there and the last two words without cause were not there. The
irony strongly displays that all this power given to Napoleon has gone to his head, so
much so that he has resorted to killing his
The Ramones Research Paper
The Ramones helped conceive punk rock by mastering a simple but effective sound a
combination of swift grooves, sing along tunes and deadpan lyrics that achieved a sort of
absurd brilliance. The sound influenced thousands of bands, and proved so durable that
the Ramones stuck to it for their entire career.

The Ramones formed in 1974 after the foursome graduated or dropped out of high
school in Forest Hills, New York. The original lineup featured Joey on drums, Dee Dee
sharing guitar with Johnny, and Tommy as manager, but they soon settled on their
recording setup. Their name and pseudonym came from Paul McCartney, who had briefly
called himself Paul Ramon back when the Beatles were known as the Silver Beatles. The

Americans DID Land on the Moon
In the later days of May in 1961, President John F. Kennedy announced before a special
joint session of Congress, his ambitious goal of sending a human to the moon before
the end of the decade. However, this enormous goal, that would appear to be a catalyst
for domestic pride, has as many ties to the Cold War, as it does to the moonitself.
Regardless of this, when Apollo 11landed on the moon in July of 1969, the entire country
rejoiced. While some doubted the motives of Kennedy s goal, a bigger conspiracy may
have lay just beneath the surface; a conspiracy that could have shaken the entire country
and enraged the world. Many well known scientists and government officials claim that
the United States of America never actually landed a man on the moon, and that the
government faked the entire event for both political and financial gain. Although much
compelling evidence and contradictions have been brought to light by the conspiracists,
NASAhas successfully responded to all of these in a robust and educated manor, that
fully enforces the fact that the United States of America did in fact land a man on the
moon. The United States has never been a country that shies away from a political
advantage, and that is exactly one of the many alleged motives for them to fake a moon
landing. In the height of the Cold War tensions could not have been higher between the
two inter nation superpowers: the USA, and the USSR. As seen in the so called Miracle
on Ice and the World Chess
Factors Influencing the Propensity to Have Extramarital...
Factors influencing the propensity to have extramarital affairs Introduction Marriage
declares a legal and socially recognized monogamous relationship between two
individuals that is binding for the duration of their life together. While the expectation for
marriage is that the spouse will remain faithful to only their partner, relationships
(whether romantic or sexual) which develop outside the bounds of marriage constitutes
infidelity and are actually not uncommon. Extramarital affairs are not considered illegal
in Australia, but the actions of the infidel spouse often has detrimental impacts on the
relationships and wellbeing of those around them, while also causing moral problems for
society. Marital relationships and occurrences of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Furthermore, as mentioned above, this survey was conducted in 1969, which is
evident that there is a huge time gap between now and then; therefore, if the analysis
is based on the sample collected, an accurate interpretation of the relationship between
the variables and the number of affairs cannot be inferred for the population today.
Moreover, amongst these variables, the rating of the individual s marriage and their
religiosity can be somewhat arbitrary and subjective as each individual may have a
different perspective on the various levels and ratings given; therefore, these results
based on the two variables may be difficult to make inferences on the population.
However, despite the problems mentioned above, basic descriptive statistics can be
provided based on the data collection. The number of affairs was chosen to be the
dependent variable. The alternative option to this choice is using a binary
independent variable, if women had at least one affair . Number of affairs is preferred
because, firstly, it is a more comprehensive measure of both genders whereas if women
had at least one affair accounts for female only; and secondly, of all the responses
received, only 31.5% of the participants have engaged in an extramarital affair. By using
number of affairs, more information can be reviewed with reduced sample size. In terms
of independent variables, by referring to the Appendix, figure 1 reveals the summary of
the sample; it also
Life Course And Human Development
According to Crawford and Walker(2010), the life course is defined in literature as,
The progression and path an individual takes from conception to death. (Crawford and
walker, 2012, p.3). The study of the life course and human development is extremely
complex and could be described as interdisciplinary as it encompasses many fields of
study. When examining the life course of individuals it is necessary to consider all of
the various factors that affect human behaviour. These may include; psychological,
biological, social, behavioural, cognitive or culture factors. Age can also be considered
as a factor that influences lifespan development. In the early 19th century, the term age
related change was regarded as only applicable to the early childhood stage but in recent
years, psychologists have come to accept that age related changes occur throughout the
entire life span. According to Boyd and Bee (2014), other earlier theories included
Charles Darwin s suggestion that, the wide variety of life forms that exist on earth
evolved gradually as a result of the interplay between environmental factors and genetic
process. (Boyd and Bee, 2014, p.3) Therefore Darwin proposed that it was either solely,
nature or nurture that influenced the human development, but instead, a combination of
both. In this assignment, I am going to focus on the specific psychological factors that
influence human behaviour during the life course. I will compare two different

Essay on The Ethics Concerning Space Debris
The Ethics Concerning Space Debris

In more than 40 years of space activities some 3800 launches led to about 25000
observable space objects larger than 10 cm of which 8300 were still in orbit by
September 1997. Only 6% of the catalogued orbit population are operational spacecraft,
while 50% is said to be due to decommissioned satellites, spent upper stages, and objects
such as launch adapter and lens covers, which are mission related. The other 44% is
originating from 140 on orbit fragmentations. These events have been the main source
that has generated a population of objects larger than 1cm on the order of 70000 to
150000.

Efforts to provide a definitive assessment of this problem have been directed toward
analyzing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the large number of space exploration projects, a large belt of debris has formed
that can be hazardous to other operational spacecraft. As engineers, we have an ethical
responsibility to prevent pollution of Earth s atmosphere. We have learned a hard lesson
on the value of environment from right here on Earth. Trends show that the debris belt
circling the Earth will only get bigger, and become more hazardous to spacecraft.
There is an ethical issue vs. a legal issue vs. a cost issue that is very much open to
debate. Several decades of space exploration have led to a buildup of non functional
space junk . However, proper disposal of equipment is just added cost for a space
program that is already on a tight budget. If space is in fact the final frontier , then we
must learn from our mistakes here on earth and minimized the contamination and
pollution of the space. As engineers, we have a moral responsibility to do everything in
our power to preserve the environment. We are all stakeholder in this issue because it
involves our tax money to fund a lot of these outer space project. But more important
emphazies should be made on precerving and taking good care of the evironment we
live in and the ones we explore such the outerspace. Back
