First Solar, Inc.
First Solar, Inc. located in Huntington Beach is a design and manufacturing company
found in 1999 who produce photovoltaic modules, or solar panels, through the use of
thin film semiconductors (Reuters, para 2). The company however, has a much
earlier history than scribed. In 1984, inventor and owner of Solar Cells, Inc Harold
McMaster manufactured solar cells from silicon (energyandcapital, para 2). However,
as silicon became more expensive, McMaster decided to switch to cadmium telluride.
This material was far more inexpensive than silicon which would eventually lead the
company to thrive. So it thrived, as in 1999 the company was purchased by True North
Partners, LLC and was named First Solar, Inc (energyandcapital, para 10). First Solar is
the first solar company to flourish and create new solar innovations. Such as, producing
1 GW of solar electricity in a single year, breaking the one dollar per watt manufacturing
overhead cost, and creating a photovoltaic modulerecycling program (FirstSolar, para 2).
To put that into perspective clean technica explains that, 1GW of solar power can
power up to 750,000 homes and about 2 coal fired power plants (Shahan, para 2). To
evaluate whether First Solar is a smart investment decision, we will first take a look at
growth profitability of the company along with the corporate responsibility the company
holds. We will also take into consideration energy efficiency as well as their support
services. Based upon these factors a

The legislation was repealed in 1999 when key players from the financial arena urged
Congress to pass the Gramm Leach Bliley Act to reverse Glass Steagall s restrictions on
bank securities (Heakal, 2003).
Financial Reform Today
Dodd Frank is the latest financial reform passed by Congress, and by far the most
extensive. According to Amadeo, Dodd Frank is the most comprehensive reform since
the Glass Steagall Act of 1933 (2012, para.1). The goals of Dodd Frank are to
implement consumer protections, end bailouts with tax payer money, create a council to
identify risks, eliminate loopholes for risky behavior, implement say on pay for
executives, protect investors, and enforce strict regulations on Wall Street (House of
Representatives, n.d.). Dodd Frank lacks clarity and is lengthy, running over 1,000 pages
long (New York, 2012). In many cases, Dodd Frank does not contain explicit rules, but
instead creates an outline whereby financial oversight agencies have been charged with
conducting research and writing and implementing the rules.
Who Are the Agencies Responsible for Implementing Dodd Frank? Prior to the financial
crisis, the overall responsibility for financial oversight was divided among several
different agencies. These agencies and their varying rules and standards led to certain
entities not being regulated at all, with others subject to less oversight than their peer
Is Jazz Really Dead Essay
Jazz. A label associated with brass, dance and America. A music filled with so much
life and force but to the general appeal, it appears to be dying. Drowning amongst pop
songs and dubstep, it seems that the fate of jazz will resemble the one of dusty library
books that have never seen the time of day. But is Jazztruly dead? Or does it to quote
Frank Zappa just smell funny?

About a century ago jazz was considered as popular music and was considerably the most
influential movement at the time. In 1920, jazz had infected Kansas City and it could be
heard on every corner of each street. It began around the early 1900s, when African
American musicians congregated in the city of New Orleans. In the town of Storyville,
musicians would share and improvise their music. Eventually, some musicians would
leave New Orleans to share the New Orleans music. By the 1920s, after jazz had entered
the vocabulary in 1917, indie music companies began recording jazz ... Show more

Even some teenagers disagree with the statement of jazz being dead. I know jazz isn t
dead because a lot of people listen to it. It s just like our generation, we tend to listen
to more like pop and rap rather than jazz. But jazz is like it used to be the pop of a
generation so and it s pretty cool, it s funky. says Sabrina, a student who indulges in
chillstep rather than jazz. Other students agree, saying it s not dead but rather, as
Vincent says, it s just not as popular as it used to be.

So maybe jazz isn t dead. Perhaps we mistake the decrease in attention and exposure
for a slow death. The jazz scene might not be as big as it once was, but music is always
changing and jazz was the product of change. It may not top MTV charts and big
bands may seem to be low in number but in my eyes, jazz isn t dying because as we
speak now, a child picks up a saxophone, or a trumpet, or maybe drum sticks and decides
at this very moment that jazz is the one for
White Log Character Analysis
White Fang is an action/adventure novel written by Jack London. White Fang takes
place in Yukon Territory and areas around Canada during the 1890s. It is written in 1st
person and changes between different people s point of views. White Fang is about the
will to survive. White Fang must go through whatever he needs to stay alive. There is
always a new challenge Fang and his buddies must face. That is why they are willing to
do whatever to survive.

White Fang is put through many owners before finally finding the one he loves. He
first starts off with Gray Beaver, who owns he and his mother. He is very subtle and not
cruel nor very nice. White Fang is then transferred to Beauty Smith, who is ironically
named beauty because he is hideous. Beauty Smith tricked Gray Beaver into trading
whiskey for White Fang. He is a very cruel man and tries to transfer White Fang into a
fighting wolf. Throughout the story White Fang is faced with many battles, emotionally
and physically, and must stride to survive.

There are many different antagonists through White Fang. Beauty Smith is a very ugly
and cruel man who tricked White Fang s previous owner into trading for whiskey. He
tries over and over to turn White Fang into a fighting dog and has him fight dogs for
money. Cherokee is a bulldog who almost kills White Fang. He is the only dog to ever
get close to finish White Fang in a battle. Another antagonist is Jim Hall. Jim Hall is a
criminal who is sent to jail unjustly by Judge Scott.
A Complicated Kindness Essay
Sexual Experimentation, Drug and Alcohol Abuse In The Virgin Suicides and A
Complicated Kindness, the restrictions that religion puts in place cause the youth to
rebel against that religious system. In A Complicated Kindness, it is made clear from
the beginning of the text that there is a ban on the media, dancing, smoking, temperate
climates, movies, drinking, rock n roll, having sex for fun, swimming, make up,
jewellery, playing pool, going to cities, or staying up past nine o clock (Toews 5). These
strict rules against what are considered standard activities lead Nomi to rebel. For
example, Nomi takes up smoking, drinking and has premarital sex with her boyfriend
Travis. Additionally, Nomi wears a bonnet for the Mennonite church service,... Show

From the beginning of the text, it is clear that Lux is sexually charged. The first time
sexuality is attributed to her is when Peter Sissen has dinner at the Lisbon house.
When Peter uses the bathroom, he finds a used tampon, which belongs to Lux as she
knocks on the door to get something private (Eugenides 8). In a sense, Lux s
rebellious behaviour and sexual awakenings have contributed to her destruction of the
self. As it has been established, her sexual actions with Trip after the prom result in
her entrapment in the house, including the remaining girls, though they arrived home
on time. As well as not being allowed to leave the house, the girls are pulled out of
school. Additionally, Mrs. Lisbon makes Lux throw all her rock records into the fire
(138 39), which further establishes her control. One could argue that the records for
Mrs. Lisbon promote rebellious behaviour, connecting her daughter s to Satan.
Additionally, it could be argued that this event drives Lux to further rebel as the
records were the one thing that would keep her sanity as well as being a part of her
identity. Her loss and destruction of her identity is confirmed as she further goes
against her mother s strict rules. She does so by performing sexual favours for men on
the roof of their house. This allows Lux to escape her entrapment for a
