three vectors u = (1, −2, 1, 3), v = (1, 2, −1, 1), w = (2, 3, 1, −1) in R4 .
(5) For what values of k the system kx + y = 1, x + ky = 1 has (i) no solution (ii) one
solution and (iii) infinitely many solutions?
(6) Find the values of a for which the following system of equations is inconsistent.
x1 + 5x2 − 3x3 = −4; −x1 − 4x2 + x3 = 3; −2x1 − 7x2 = a.
